Call To Action: Birthright Citizenship
On Wednesday, April 1, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments regarding the birthright citizenship case of Barbara v. Donald J. Trump. The case was brought through federal courts and to the Supreme Court by the ACLU and its partners because, from the beginning of his second term, the President has tried to undermine by executive order the promise of birthright citizenship to all children born on US soil as stated in the US Constitution, federal statute and as reaffirmed by the Supreme Court for more than a century. The President's order puts on restrictions affecting babies born after 2/19/2025 to parents without permanent legal status. All federal courts hearing this to date have blocked the administration from implementation, having found that the President is demanding an unconstitutional action.
Script:
"Hi! My name is (name) and I live at (complete address). I want Chief Justice Roberts and the Supreme Court to know that I believe that the Constitution, not the President, defines who is a citizen. If the Supreme Court allows this executive order to take effect, consequences are immediate and devastating, leaving children of temporary citizens, legal-visa holders, DACA recipients or those with humanitarian protection in legal limbo. These children could be arrested or deported. Please do the right thing and follow what our Constitution has plainly stated on this matter for over a century."
Call:
Supreme Court Chief Justice John G. Robert's office at (202) 479-3211 or the Supreme Court Switchboard at (202) 479-1000 or sign the ACLU petition found at aclu.org under court cases.
Sign up sheets have gone out for College Voter Registration for Rowan- Mount Laurel and Rowan Glassboro.

Call To Action:
UPDATE as of 3/28/26: On 3/27 the Senate passed a funding bill for DHS agencies except ICE and CBP (Customs and Border Protection) that was rejected by the House on 3/28. Instead, the House passed a 2 month Continuing Resolution on 3/28 which includes funding for all of DHS including ICE and CBP. Since Congress's 2 chambers are shut down until mid-April, Trump signed an executive order of questionable legality to mandate TSA funding.
We can address again what we want Congress to do about DHS funding when they return from break on 4/15. In the meantime, we need to work on getting Congress to support investigation and prevention of illegal actions by the Trump administration. The first No Kings Act was introduced on August 1, 2024. S.4973 did not pass the 118th Congress of 2023-2025. As you know the third "No Kings" protest day on 3/28/26 included 3,300+ US cities and an estimated 8 million participants according to The Guardian. (This proves that indifference is quickly waning because of the increased boldness of the Trump administration's blatant illegal actions.) Here are a few examples of Trump's dictatorship attempts:
1. Deployed the military against Americans in US cities and threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act if we "disobey" ICE.
2. Accused members of the military of "sedition" if they disobeyed his illegal orders, saying in the media that they would be "punished by death".
3. Exploited emergency powers to enact illegal policies like tariffs and military strikes.
4. Attacked freedom of speech by threatening media companies and journalists for critical coverage.
5. Directed the DOJ to target his political opponents and withheld federal funding to control certain universities and government agencies.
6. Defied federal court orders and attacked judges who ruled against him.
Script:
Hi! My name is (name) and I am a constituent of (city, zip)*, I want my (Rep/Sen) to condemn Trump's continuing abuse of power, and to support investigation of the illegalities of the Trump administration, removing any government official who participates in this administration's illegal actions (use ONE or TWO examples of unconstitutional defiance such as one of the six mentioned above.)

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Is there someone who can make 250 copies of a 2 page handout for No Kings Day? We are giving this handout out at our table in Wiggins Park at the end of the Cooper River Indivisible March. It describes the history of our group, our accomplishments and everything we are involved in. I have 300 but 8000 people came to the March last year so I have no idea how many I need. It's a GREAT opportunity to get new members.
If you can't do 250- any amount would be appreciated. Email me directly

From Eileen: I am planning to staff a SJNOWIndivisible table at Wiggins Park (where the rally and speakers are for the CRI Rally). I cannot do this unless I get at least 3 people who will definitely commit to doing it with me. It's a great opportunity to get new members and get closer to the 3.5%. You won't miss the rally or the speakers. Three people can carpool with me. Another car can follow. Email me directly with email and cell number.

3. Call to Action
1. At 630 this morning the NYT published the following confirmation: Tom Homan, the White House border czar, confirmed on Sunday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents would be deployed to U.S. airports on Monday, casting the operation largely as an effort to ease long lines that have caused frustration among travelers during one of the busiest travel seasons.
ICE personnel, including agents from Homeland Security Investigations, are planning to be at 14 airports, according to a document obtained by The New York Times. The airports span the country, including Kennedy and LaGuardia in New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston and Phoenix.
2. The Save Act is scheduled for debate again today in the Senate. Trump is using ICE presence in airports as leverage to get the Dems to cave on both the Save Act and DHS negotiations.
3. Call, or e-mail, our representatives, Andy, Cory, Herb, and Don to thank them for their support and urge them to stand strong.
Senator Cory Booker 202-224-3224 856-338-8922
Senator Andy Kim 202-224-4744 856-757-5353
Representative Herb Conaway 202-225-4765 609-438-6290
Representative Donald Norcross 202-225-6501
856-427-7000
4. There is a new office of new Americans Legal Services for Immigrants who can’t afford lawyers. Go to N.J.gov.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
1. No Kings 3 Saturday March 28: Plan on being part of what's expected to be the largest mass protest in the history of this country. As you're probably aware, there are several local options:
For people going to City Hall in Camden, meet at the Woodcrest Station at 10 AM. The event is from 11 AM to 4 PM. For people going to Philadelphia, meet at the Woodcrest Station at 10:45 AM. The event is from 12:00 - 3:00 PM.
As recently announced, there will be a small event in Moorestown. Meet at noon at the parking lot on 2nd St., just off Church Street in Moorestown. There will be a march and a brief rally.
2. Good News - Governor Sherrill joins the fight against the Roxbury detention center: New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill and Attorney General Jennifer Davenport's lawsuit against DHS and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement seeks to halt a plan to convert a vacant warehouse into a large-scale detention facility, which would have the capacity to hold 1,500 detainees. More information here.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
1. Announcing a local Burlington County No Kings March: Meet at noon 3/28 at the parking lot on 2nd St., just off Church Street in Moorestown. We will walk down Main from Church to Chester, across the street and return. Conclude with a rousing chorus of America The Beautiful. Bring signs if you wish. This is likely to be small and a good alternative for people who weren’t going to go because they didn’t want to go to Camden or Philly.
2. Trans Day of Visibility (March 31) celebrates the trans community's persistence and joyful authenticity while recognizing the urgent need for solidarity — especially now, as trans people face an onslaught of hate and legislated dehumanization with echoes of historical annihilationist campaigns. On March 30 (7:30pm ET/4:30pm PT), Indivisible will honor Trans Day of Visibility with Centering Trans Leadership and Accountable Allyship, part of its Solidarity in Action: Building Power that Lasts series. Led by Mandy Giles (Parents of Trans Children), Alex del Rosario and Devon Ojeda (Advocates for Trans Equality), and public education specialist Tekla Taylor, the virtual event will address systemic oppression facing trans people, best practices for coalition building, and resources for parents of trans youth in public schools. Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Tell our congressmen to vote NO for DHS secretary Markwayne Mullin. Kristi Noem is out at DHS but Trump's nominee to replace her is at least as dedicated to sending ICE and Border Patrol to terrorize our cities. He is an election denier and has referred to Alex Pretti, the US citizen killed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents in Minnesota as a "deranged individual" who wanted to do max damage.
Call our senators and tell them to vote NO for Senator Mullin.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Continue to tell our senators to strongly oppose the Save Act. This is a repeat Call to Action because of its importance. Continue to make calls to our senators as this is a Voter Suppression Bill disguised as a Voter Identification Bill that would protect elections. Trump is pushing the GOP to get this passed and threatens to sign no legislation until it is passed. The Senate has begun holding a debate on the bill this week. We must continue to express our concern and our support for our senators who have so far opposed this bill. Our right to vote is non-negotiable. If you have called our senators, consider calling again. A call a day is not too much to get our message across.
Script: I am calling to thank Senator ________ for opposing the Save Act and to urge him to continue his strong opposition, as this bill is designed to block voters, not prevent voting fraud.

CALL TO ACTION
Tell NJ Senators - Strongly Oppose the Extreme GOP Anti-Voter SAVE America Act
We are in a serious situation now. We must flood our NJ Senators, who have expressed opposition to this terrible anti-voter bill, with many calls, urging them to speak out loudly against this bill. This awful bill has passed the House and has moved to the Senate. GOP Senate Majority Leader Thune has promised a floor vote on the bill, though it’s path to 60 votes is unclear. However, in yet another attempt to steal the 2026 Midterms, Trump is now exerting tremendous pressure on GOP Senators to break the filibuster and pass this bill. He is threatening NOT to sign any more legislation, until this bill becomes law!
This bill would hinder millions of eligible Americans from registering to vote-or to cast ballots-by requiring citizens to present a birth certificate or passport in person to register and to vote. Millions of Americans don’t have easy access to these documents. Despite unfounded claims to the contrary, there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud. The SAVE America Act is designed to block eligible people from voting, not to protect elections. Demand your NJ Senators strongly oppose the SAVE America Act and protect voting rights for all.
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP].
I'm calling to urge [SEN NAME] to oppose the House-passed SAVE America Act, which would create unnecessary barriers to voter registration and disenfranchise countless voters, especially women, seniors, and low-income citizens. The bill is designed to block voters despite no evidence of widespread fraud.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Tell Congress - No Funding for Trump's War
Trump’s war has already cost the lives of US servicemembers, at least 1,000 Iranian civilians, and others caught in the crossfire throughout the region. Democrats' efforts to end it with a War Powers Resolution failed last week, but the fight is far from over.
The regime will soon ask for billions more of taxpayers' money to continue their blood-soaked recklessness. We need to call and email our Members of Congress and demand they refuse to fund Trump's war.
The American public is firmly against this conflict. None of us want another forever war. Congress must act. We’re calling on Members of Congress to respond to this crisis by:
1. Conducting immediate oversight
2. Continuing to force votes on War Powers Resolutions
3. Restricting or cutting off funding for unauthorized hostilities, which includes opposing any supplemental packages that would fund the war
4. Holding the Trump administration accountable and putting an immediate stop to this.

Dear SJNOW Indivisibles,
Important New Initiative: Citizens Bank supports ICE activities, lending money to GEO Corp and CoreCivic, to build and maintain detention/deportation facilities under horrendous conditions. Join us in telling the bank that this is not acceptable! We will be rallying this Saturday, March 7th from 10:30-11:30 at the Citizens Bank branch, corner of Rte 73 N. & Greentree Road, (Whole Foods shopping center). We will have signs available, but if you bring your own, please have the message directed to Citizens Bank’s support of ICE. Hope to see you there!
EXCELLENT NEWS FOR THE RESISTANCE:
“The Beginning of Accountability”
Today the heads of National Indivisible, Ezra Levin and Leah Green praised our members in their weekly Zoom meeting for putting pressure on members of congress to bring about hearings, resulting in the dismissal of Kristi Noem, the Secretary of Homeland Security. Ms. Noem had presided over the improper arrest and detention of over 170 American citizens, the death of three others as well as 32 deaths in ICE detention facilities in the past year. Ezra and Leah labeled it “The beginning of accountability.”
Ezra Levin also predicted that the Democrats would take both the House and Senate in November, giving the party subpoena power to investigate and hold accountable criminal actors in the Trump administration.
Senate Democrats Block DHS Funding Again Due to ICE Misconduct
Today, Democrats again refused to fund DHS, for the third time, stating that unless ICE agents remove their masks, wear body cameras and follow procedures ordinarily used in police departments across the country, they would not fund the department. In regard to this move, Ezra Levin told Indivisible members today, “No money to DHS until there are changes to the secret price force!”
The House Oversight Committee Votes to Subpoena Pam Bondi Over Epstein Files
Over the objections of the House Republican chairman of the Oversight Committee, several G.O.P. members joined Democrats to force the subpoena of Pam Bondi, the U. S. Attorney General for the second time this year. It was a striking rebuke of a top Trump administration official by members of his own party. Bondi had faced increasing criticism for her promise to release all the files and then refusing to do so. Recently, she faced pressure because one of the files indicated that three other files existed of FBI interviews with a girl who claimed she was sexually assaulted by Trump when she was between the ages of 13 and 15.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles March 5,
Call to Action:
Senate votes "no" on War Powers Resolution today; the House is set to vote tomorrow.
Today the Senate voted down the War Powers Res. 104 by a vote of 47-53. Sen. Paul Rand (R-KY) voted yes and Sen. Fetterman (D-PA) voted no with the Republicans. Tomorrow, March 5, the House votes on H. Con. Res. 38, its version of the War Powers Resolution to prevent the Executive Branch from declaring wars which are unconstitutional without first getting authorization from Congress. Reining in the Trump administration from declaring war on foreign nations will stop the escalation of war in Iran and prevent a possible worldwide recession due to the curtailing of oil coming from the Middle East. Please contact your Representative in the House for this very important vote on March 5.

Hi, my name is (name) and I am a constituent from (city, zip*). I am calling to urge my Representative to vote yes on H. Con. Res. 38, the War Powers Resolution Act, to stop the Trump administration from waging war unconstitutionally without seeking authorization of Congress first. This will stop the escalation of war in Iran and the beginnings of illegal military conflicts elsewhere involving the US, as well as possibly preventing a recession due to the inaccessibility of oil coming from the Middle East. Thank you for your time and attention.

Good news for the Resistance this week from the U.S. Congress and Colleges and Universities Across the Country:
Democrats and Republicans Across the Country Push Back Against ICE and Its Facilities
Republican Senator Tom Tillis joined Democratic members of the Senate to administer a scorching takedown of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem in hearings this week regarding the conduct of ICE officers in Minnesota and other states. He called her administration a “disaster”, as it had caused the improper arrest of many American citizens as well as the deaths of two others—Rachel Good and Alex Pretti of Minnesota. Sen. Tillis then called for Secretary Noem’s resignation.
In addition, Republican officials in Mississippi, New Hampshire, Tennessee and beyond successfully fought against proposed ICE facilities in their states. The governor of New Hampshire, Kelly Ayotte (R), a Senator from Tennessee, Masha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and a Senator from Mississippi, Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) all successfully prevented ICE facilities from being built in their states.
Democracy Summer Launched by Colleges and Universities Across the U.S.
Hundreds of Colleges and Universities including Yale, Duke, state schools such as Michigan and Texas, as well as small religious colleges have joined with over 400 college civic groups to form the Democracy Summer network, inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Freedom summer of 1964. The plans include working this summer with organizations such as Civic Nation to register voters, promote free speech, canvass and focus on national obstacles to voting.

Dear SJNOW Indivisibles,
As we know, the Trump administration’s attack against Iran, killing the leader of its government, Ayatollah Khomeini, was launched without congressional approval, despite the fact that only Congress can declare war under the U.S. Constitution. Our military has suffered a number of casualties and is expected to suffer more. In addition, as the oil shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is now blocked by Iran, it could lead to a recession affecting all countries.
We continue to ask our members to call their congressional representatives, urging them to support the War Powers Resolution put forth by Rep. Ro Khanna, (Democrat from California) and Rep. Thomas Massie, (Republican from Kentucky). A House vote is scheduled this week on the resolution, directing the President to end U.S. military action against Iran within 30 days of its beginning on February 28th, unless authorized by Congress as well as requiring limits on ground troops and regular reporting to Congress. The phone numbers and emails for our representatives are set forth below, with a script to use during our contact with their offices.

An even easier way to contact our reps is to use the 5 Calls app. It identifies your legislators automatically, provides their phone numbers, and offers clear, ready‑to‑use call scripts so you know exactly what to say, lowering the anxiety many people feel about political outreach. The app also curates current issues, tracks your completed calls, and shows how many others are taking action. These features matter because calling representatives remains one of the most effective ways for you to influence policy, and 5 Calls removes the barriers—time, uncertainty, and complexity—that often keep people from speaking up.
Good news for the Resistance this week from the Judicial and Educational Pillars of Power:
Judicial Resistance
An explosive new ruling is expected to force the Supreme Court to address the Trump administration’s lies under oath as well as its defiance of court orders. In a scathing opinion, a federal judge rebuked the Trump administration for sending immigrants to third countries where they have never lived before, with no due process hearing. U.S. District Court Judge Brian Murphy also documented the numerous incidents where government officials lied, stonewalled or disobeyed orders of the court. In various cases, the government misrepresented evidence, which turned out to be non-existent or omitted information showing their assertions were untrue. The case will go to the Supreme Court, where the documentation of this misconduct may result in a ruling to stem such actions.
Resistance by the Ivy League
Columbia University reversed its policy of cooperation with the Trump administration to allow ICE on campus to deport its students. This past week when a student was detained in the lobby of the university-owned dorm without a warrant, the leadership sprang into action. They immediately alerted their elected officials of the incident, explaining how ICE staff had lied about looking for a missing child in order to gain access to the dorm building. Explaining this reversal, Reinhold Martin, the president of Columbia’s chapter of the American Association of University Professors, stated, “The context has changed”, “We thank our friends in Minneapolis, who set an example for others to follow.”
Resistance from the Religious Community
The Conference for Catholic Bishops submitted a scorching amicus brief to a case before the Supreme Court, stating that their opposition to stripping people of birthright citizenship “is motivated by their firmly held belief that each person is endowed by God with an inherent dignity that confers certain universal, inviolable, and inalienable rights.” It further condemned the President’s executive order as “immoral” and contrary to the Church’s fundamental beliefs regarding the life and dignity of vulnerable people such as migrants and children.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
On 2/28/26, Israel and the United States launched a major combat operation in Iran which reportedly killed Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, aged 86. Trump was at Mar-a-Lago where he instructed his staff to attack a foreign country without first getting the constitutionally required authorization from Congress. Demand that your representatives support the bipartisan war powers resolution by Rep Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Rep Thomas Massie (R-KY) planned for a House vote this week to rein in Trump's reckless use of our military.
