Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Just a few things.....
Please note that this Call to Action is time sensitive!
CALL TO ACTION:
President Trump just put right-wing private equity goon Bill Pulte atop the most powerful spy network in the world.
Trump’s pick for acting director of national intelligence has experience buying up home improvement companies. He definitely knows how to donate big money to the Trump campaign. But he has no experience whatsoever in national security or intelligence. Maybe he’s read a Tom Clancy novel, but we can’t confirm that. Now Trump has given his political attack dog access to the largest collection of sensitive data on the planet for one reason, and one reason alone: Trump wants Bill Pulte to weaponize our entire intelligence community against political opponents and cultural enemies.
This is another step toward authoritarianism in America. But we’re not powerless here. Congress has very little authority when it comes to blocking acting directors, but it does have massive amounts of leverage right now, because an intelligence-gathering law is set to expire in nine days without Congressional reauthorization and the Trump regime is obsessed with getting it passed.
You’ve heard us talk about Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act before. It allows warrantless surveillance of non-US citizens for national security purposes, but loopholes have been used to spy on US citizens as well. We’re already urging Congress not to pass this law without massive guardrails, but now, given the threat of the Pulte appointment, we’re encouraging Members of Congress to refuse to reauthorize this law -- even with guardrails -- until the Trump regime pulls this dangerous appointment.*
We want to be clear on this: Any Democrat who votes to reauthorize Section 702 right now will be complicit in Trump’s weaponization of intelligence data against Americans. This is one of the most important tests of whether Dems are able to identify the critical fights they need to wage to stem the tide of fascism.
Demand your Member of Congress use all available leverage -- including blocking reauthorization of surveillance legislation -- until Trump’s dangerous acting intelligence chief is removed.

Things that make you go hmmmmmm...It has been one week since Dump has been seen in public! According to Dr. Luny Bin OZ, the reason he keeps going to Walter Reed is that he "Likes the results. He aces the test every single day."

Come to Trenton tomorrow, 6/1 at 2pm for a rally at the Governor’s office to demand that Gov. Sherrill answer for the mess that she has made!
We need to let her know she must START protecting the people detained inside this concentration camp – she must START taking action, immediately – she must start enforcing NJ laws that will SHUT DOWN DELANEY HALL!
We need to let her know she must STOP spreading the MAGA lies about protesters being the agitators – she must STOP deploying NJ state and local police to do ICE’s work of terrorizing peaceful protesters – she must STOP sitting on her hands and doing nothing to stop the horror inside and outside Delaney Hall!
SHE MUST PUT AN END TO THE HORROR AT DELANEY HALL!

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Delaney Hall ICE Detention Facility: Severe problems persist at Delaney Hall — including brutal living conditions, a hunger strike, and ongoing protests — all of which the current regime has either denied outright or tried to discredit. Many of our elected officials have been there, including Senator Andy Kim and Governor Mikie Sherrill, but the problems persist. There are several charities that are directly supporting people affected by the situation at Delaney Hall, following are links (note the first 3 are Facebook pages):

NJ Utility Rate Study - Let Your Voice Be Heard: NJ’s utility rates have skyrocketed. Rates rose by 20% last summer making it the highest electricity rate hike of any state in the country. Governor Sherrill issued an Executive Order (EO1) that froze utility rates and calls for a comprehensive study or our how our utility companies do business. The public can play a role in influencing this study to ensure they prioritize lowering costs for NJ residents. We urge NJ residents to submit a public comment on this study to bring attention to two specific concerns: executive pay of utility companies and the allowable profit margins. Tell NOAA: Protect Right Whales from Deadly Ship Strikes: Re: Docket ID NOAA-NMFS-2026-0364
With fewer than 400 North Atlantic Right whales left on the planet, we need to do everything we can to protect the whales we have left. Right now, 23 new baby whales are following their mothers to their northeastern feeding grounds. A baby whale doesn't stand a chance against a speeding ship. Their migratory path takes them directly through some of the Atlantic's busiest shipping lanes -- and any whale that collides with a ship can be injured or killed. Ship strikes are a deadly threat to migrating Right whales— and the seasonal ship speed limit imposed by NOAA since 2008 is one of the best tools we have to prevent them. The limits have reduced the likelihood of whale injury or death from vehicle strikes by slowing ships down in critical areas, giving whales and ships alike the chance to avoid one another. Contact your representatives to encourage them to prevent changes to speed limits.
Script:
Hi, my name is ( ) and I’m a constituent from ( ).
I am concerned about the proposed changes to the speed limits in the North Atlantic shipping lanes and the threat this poses to the Right Whale population. For a species so close to extinction, every individual matters, and we should be doing more to protect their lives, not less.
Please keep Right Whales safe by keeping the 2008 North Atlantic Right Whale vessel speed regulations in place.

Yesterday, the day after our beloved US Senator was attacked by ICE thugs, a local activist and member of @sjnowindivisible.bsky.social and @atburlco.bsky.social , visited Delaney Hall.
Here is her first-person account of that visit.
I've been trying to figure out how I can talk about being at Delaney Hall yesterday, and what I saw. I don't know how to accept this in my head.
This place is located in an industrial area. It looks like what everyone who has never been to NJ thinks all of NJ is. Warehouses, trucks everywhere, barbed wire, nothing green.
The air smells like a combination of cabbage, sewage and garbage that's been left to rot. I thought we'd get used to that after a little while, but no. It's putrid.
The building where they are keeping more people than it can hold, under any reasonable definition of a prison population, is not far from the street. You can walk right up to the fencing
and gate.
There is a WALL of ICE agents, standing shoulder to shoulder, armed to the teeth, in a narrow strip of parking area, about 10 or 12 feet from the road.
The road is two lanes, and the traffic is non stop 18 wheelers. NON STOP. Almost no cars. Just trucks. Largely supportive of the protesters, if the honking is an indication.
Protesters are lined up in front of the ICE guys, IN THE STREET. ICE has pushed them back into the street. Some of them are two feet or less away from this wall of ICE guys.
Protesters are organized. They have walkie talkies, and gas masks and they are at both entrances, and all along the street, and there are a lot of young people. And as of yesterday, a lot of press.
There is a large mutual aid tent, where volunteers are working around the clock to help the families, with food, drinks, diapers I think, sunblock, and respite. They look exhausted. They've been there for a year. They're young. They were really happy to get something other than water to drink.
There is palpable feeling of anger in the air. And there is an undeniable knowing that someone is going to be killed there.
ICE guys are masked up, and they all have dark glasses, but you can smell the hate coming off them. You can see into their souls, that they will shoot you in the face if they decide they've had enough. They're young and they are fearless.
Incredibly, there was a white woman among them.
Almost all the employees we saw coming and going are black. I can't wrap my head around that, nor can I imagine the women we saw, working there, and going home after their shifts, to their families.
There is a bucket of sidewalk chalk in front of one of the gates, where people (kids?) have drawn pictures and written messages. Some of hope, some from anger. It's dystopian to think about children and sidewalk chalk in this place.
We saw babies, in the arms of their mothers, waiting, I guess, for their human on the inside, to be let out, or for them to be let in. Like it's normal to have babies in this foul air, sitting on the pavement all day.
There was a white woman who showed up with her MAGA hat, and she stood in front of those agents and screamed at the protesters. She said foul things. She felt safe. You could see it in her eyes. She thought she had their protection.
And yes, there was an altercation. It was physical. And the only thing that stopped it, I think, was the protester recognizing that if it went farther, that woman might have been shoved into the agents, and then those agents would have unleashed their fury on everyone there. They weren't going to lift a finger for her, but she felt like they would. You could tell. She was one person in a sea of angry people who didn't want her there. Brave? I don't know. Maybe
crazy cult behavior.
I am profoundly disturbed this morning, still. I am hopeful always, about everything, but this has rocked me. I'm not sure that we're coming out of this whole. Because in the middle of all this, I understand more completely today, that none of this is new. We've always had these prisons and concentration camps, and people willing to torture other human beings for a pay check, and this system is huge. And growing every day. As long as there is money to be made by locking up human beings, we will lock up human beings.
Wrap if up, girl.
Go, if you can, to bring supplies (see Invisible or Cosecha for lists) and to bear witness. I do think it helps the people who are there every day to have the support.
But please. DO NOT GO if you are not able to move quickly. You have to able to get out of the way FAST, when those guys move. If you are not fit enough to do that, don't go. Please.
The next monthly meeting is Monday, June 8, at 7 pm at the Mount Laurel Community Center. Doors open at 6:30 pm for coffee, cake and mingling! New people welcome. Please bring a donation for the food bank for our new Mutual Aide group.

Call to Action - Fight against the Killing of Animals by Cyanide Bombs:
The Trump Administration lifted a ban on the use of cyanide bombs that kill wildlife on lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The M-44 is an ultra-deadly spring-loaded cylinder trap that uses a scented bait attractant to entice its victim to bite or tug at its head. Once triggered, the M-44 shoots a pellet of sodium cyanide into the animal’s mouth—causing terror, pain, distress, suffering, injury and death. Although its primary targets are coyotes and foxes, the M-44 also kills animals it is not intended to harm, including people’s pets—and it has poisoned or killed endangered wildlife species including wolves, grizzly bears and California condors. This is a devastating and dangerous reversal that puts wildlife, family pets, and people who use public lands directly at risk. Non-lethal methods for wildlife conflict issues should be the default, and the use of diabolical killing tools the last resort. Federal action is the necessary and overdue next step. Contact your representatives to encourage them to condemn the use of M-44s on public lands.
Script:
Hi, My name is ( )and I’m a constituent from ( ). I am concerned about the use of M-44s on Public Lands by the Bureau of Land Management and the USDA. Cyanide bombs are a cruel and indiscriminate device that have proven to be deadly for pets, humans, and wildlife – and they have no business being on our public lands. Please work to end the use of these bombs and re-introduce the ban needed to protect our pets wildlife and children.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

We'll consider some ways that New Jersey can utilize these techniques in defense of our freedoms. CALL TO ACTION: Support Detainees on Hunger Strike at Delaney Hall Ice Facility:
Delaney Hall is a privately owned 1,000-bed facility ICE uses as a detention center in Newark. Tensions outside the facility escalated over the weekend and politicians called for oversight after months of accusations of inhumane conditions. Other ICE facilities across the country have also faced accusations of subpar conditions as President Donald Trump’s administration continues a massive nationwide deportation campaign. A recent CNN investigation found that nearly 50 ICE detainees have died since Trump’s return to office, the highest death toll in at least two decades. Before clashes between protesters and federal agents took place, more than 300 detainees went on a hunger and labor strike Friday in an effort to draw attention to the inhumane conditions they say they have endured, NJ.com reported.
US Sen. Andy Kim of New Jersey visited Delaney Hall on Monday along with Governor Mikie Sherrill and others. Andy was even caught in a cloud of pepper spray! Call our Senators and Governor to thank them for their support and ask them to shut down this facility and demand to be allowed to inspect and oversee detainee’s living conditions for themselves.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Flood Andy Kim's phone lines! You don't need a script. This incredible man has been at the Delaney Hall Detention Center in Newark today trying to de-escalate a very tense situation with prisoners mounting a hunger strike and protestors at the gates. MoC's, Mikie Sherill and Andy Kim have all been there. Andy was pepper sprayed! There are videos of his eyes being flushed. He reported trouble breathing.
There has to be an uproar! Please call his office and tell him we are watching and he is a hero.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
This week: voter rolls, the Iran war-powers fight, weakened drinking-water rules, and a $1.8 billion settlement fund and the question of accountability running underneath all of them.
Stop Trump's $1.8B Political Slush Fund
Dodging judicial oversight, the Trump administration has dropped its dubious lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and directed the Department of Justice (DOJ) to create a $1.776 billion “anti-weaponization" compensation fund for so-called political victims of the Biden administration. This pool of money is in fact an illegal and nakedly corrupt slush fund that will funnel taxpayer money to Trump’s political allies, including the violent insurrectionists who assaulted the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Acting Attorney General andenthusiastic Trump lackey Todd Blanche will appoint the five individuals responsible for doling out these stolen funds.
The creation of this slush fund is yet another act of breathtaking corruption to enrich Trump and his supporters amid an ongoing affordability crisis caused by the president’s incompetence and apathy. House Democrats are poised to force a vote on legislation to block the use of the fund, and even some Republicans, including Senate Majority Leader John Thune, have questioned the fund’s legality.
Congress must do everything they can to prevent this blatant theft of taxpayer dollars to pay off Trump’s cronies. Urge your representatives to immediately act to block this unprecedented fraud.
REMEMBER how hard it was for Republicans to fund the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund??? It took them no time to pay off the Jan 6ers who beat cops! Republicans are despicable !
Script: My name is ( your name) and I am a resident of (the town you live in) and I want (your Members of Congress ) to Fight and Oppose Trump's $1.8B Political Slush Fund! Thank you for taking my call.
Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Oppose Legal Immunity for Big Oil
After months of fossil fuel industry lobbying, Republican lawmakers have introduced federal legislation to grant oil and gas companies immunity from any laws or lawsuits that could hold them accountable for their role in the climate crisis.
More than one in four Americans live in a community fighting in court to make Big Oil companies pay for lying about how their products fuel climate change. At least a dozen states have passed or proposed climate “superfund” laws to make polluters, not taxpayers, cover the growing bill for climate damages. The fossil fuel industry’s allies in Congress are trying to block these accountability measures by introducing a total liability shield for fossil fuel companies based on the 2005 law protecting gun manufacturers from lawsuits.
No industry should be above the law, especially not Big Oil!
Script: My name is ( your name) and I am a resident of (the town you live in) and I want (your Members of Congress ) to oppose S. 4340/H.R. 8330, the Stop Climate Shakedowns Act, and condemn the fossil fuel industry’s effort to strip communities of their right to take corporations to court. Thank you for taking my call.

creating a new state Division of Voting Rights to enforce election protections,
strengthening protections for racial and language minority voters.

Call to Action:
Stop this authoritarian regime from conducting mass surveillance, including collecting some of our data, without a warrant.
In April 2024, Congress expanded the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) and redefined the laws that govern how the US can conduct intelligence surveillance. This act extended a controversial 2008 law called Section 702, which allows for certain wiretapping and data collection without a warrant or court order. If not extended by a congressional vote, Section 702 is set to expire in June 2026.
This law has overstepped its bounds because advances in technology, from AI to the explosion of Americans’ data readily available for purchase, have far outpaced the laws protecting Americans’ privacy and civil liberties.
Section 702 has repeatedly been abused in the past, with the FBI using its loopholes to access the communications of peaceful protesters, federal and state lawmakers, Congressional staff, thousands of campaign donors, journalists, and a judge reporting civil rights violations by local police. Over one hundred civil liberties groups have expressed deep concern about the opportunities for abuse of this surveillance law.
Section 702 has long been in need of reform and, if extended as is, will only lead to more sweeping government surveillance. Any representative voting for unfettered spying on US citizens should hear from their constituents. Tell your representatives NOT to extend Section 702 of FISA without significant reform, including requiring a warrant or court order for all surveillance and data collection.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Here is an update from Chris Shultz regarding the anti-ICE protests at Jt Base McGuire:
Happy Spring, brigadiers. We hope you are starting to enjoy some outdoor activities.
We are happy to announce the resumption of our monthly anti-ICE protests at Joint base McGuire Dix Lakehurst. We will be back in action on Sunday, May 17, from 2:00 to 4:00.
We will be at our same location, with the same parking and shuttle ride arrangements.
One thing that has changed is that our incompetent regime has now involved us in an actual shooting war. We want to remind you that our protests are not intended to be anti-military or even anti-war. We all have incredibly strong feelings about this, but do not feel that our on base location is the right venue to protest them. Our values have always been that we love our service members, our military families, and our constitution, but we despise ICE and our incompetent and corrupt regime. We urge that you keep your messaging in line with these values.
Further details can be found on our Mobilize sign up form. We hope that you will use this link to sign up.
These are peaceful, family friendly events.
So we hope to have you join us in making some Good Trouble.

Please note: The repeat of the Call to Action today is to increase calls to Herb Conaway and Donald Norcross to let them know how troubling Section 702 of FISA extension is given Trump's warrantless spying in America
Call to Action:
Condemn the FISA Extension Votes of Herb Conaway and Donald Norcross
A vote was taken on FISA (the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act). Two local House Representatives, Herb Conaway of Delran and Donald Norcross of Camden with 40 other Democrats rubber-stamped President Trump's and Stephen Miller's plan to extend for 3- years a provision for warrantless government spying, supposedly just on foreign nationals. Conaway's justification was that we are at war and that having warrantless surveillance was better than having nothing in place. Fortunately, the Senate blocked this Republican plan and only extended Section 702 of FISA for 45 days so as to come up with a bipartisan privacy plan which assures that ICE or any another government agency cannot use warrantless spying against Americans.
Script:
"Hi! My name is (name). I am your constituent from (city, state*) and I want to tell Rep. (Conaway or Norcross) that I condemn his vote on the Section 702 FISA Extension. The majority of Democrats realized that warrantless spying could also be used against Americans, such as on Trump's political opponents, journalists, media figures and many others he or his followers deem disloyal. The Senate got it right. Having 45 days is enough time to create bipartisan privacy criteria to close dangerous loopholes preventing government abuses by spying without good cause on Americans. There will be more votes on this topic coming, and I want my Representative to flip his vote. The failure to stop Trump's warrantless spying in America is very concerning to me considering his authoritarian agenda. Vote what's best for your constituents, not what's easiest for the present administration who got us into this war in the first place!

Stop Trump's Unconstitutional Order on Vote By Mail Deliveries by USPS
President Trump has signed an order directing The Dept of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Social Security Administration (SSA) to compile a federal list of "verified" citizens, and the order requires the United States Postal Service (USPS) to refuse ballot delivery to anyone not on the list. He also requires unique barcodes be put on ballot envelopes by USPS. But the power to administer elections belongs to the states, not the President.

I am asking my Rep/Sen to reject Trump's unconstitutional order to send Vote by Mail ballots only to people verified by DHS and SSA and to require USPS to add unique barcodes to mail ballots. Don't let this unconstitutional executive order become the new normal. Act now to clarify that only states have authority over their voter rules. 3. Turning to thousands of diesel generators to keep up with their needs
One example is Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, which is funding a new natural gas-powered plant for one of its new and largest data centers. Natural gas is marketed as a "bridge fuel", but it is still a major driver of climate change, releasing carbon pollution and methane, a potent greenhouse gas that accelerates global warming.

Hi! My name is (name). I am a constituent living at (city, zip*). I am calling to urge my Rep/Sen to author or support environmental legislation that will stop huge data and tech centers like Meta from expanding the use of oil and gas-based power, which is accelerating our climate crisis by fueling more extreme heat and stronger storms, causing rising seas and widespread ecological harm. We need our leadership to demand that huge businesses like Meta put fossil fuels in their past and move forward with alternative energies that do not cause more global warming.

Call to Action:
Ban Partisan Gerrymandering with the Redistricting Reform Act of 2025
After the Supreme Court's latest decision on Louisiana's voting districts map, other Southern states like Alabama and Tennessee are rushing to redraw their maps which will dilute the voting power of Black communities, thus handing seats to Republicans and hurting Black candidates. Without Congressional action, partisan gerrymandering will continue to spread. Democrat lawmakers Rep. Zoe Lofgren of CA, Sen. Alex Padilla of CA and Sen. Raphael Warnock of GA have reintroduced the Redistricting Reform Act of 2025, legislation to ban partisan gerrymandering and provide clear, enforceable standards for fair maps (including banning mid-decade redistricting, setting strict criteria to prevent partisan committees and mandating public hearings).
Script:
Hi! My name is (name). I am a constituent from (city, zip*). I urge my (Rep/Sen) to do everything possible to help pass the Redistricting Reform Act of 2025 recently reintroduced by Democrats. This will provide federal protections to ban partisan gerrymandering and defend the right of free representation for all.

Hello SJNOW Indivisibles,
1. TODAY: MAY DAY (MAY 1), FRI, 4 PM, RALLY IN PHILADELPHIA - WORKERS OVER BILLIONAIRES: Please try to attend this 4 PM Rally at Philadelphia City Hall (1400 John F Kennedy Blvd) in support of all workers and unions (with a march to follow).
Some "No Work. No School. No Shopping" Demands for the May 1st "Workers Over Billionaires" Philly Rally - Tax the rich so our families, not their fortunes, come first. - No ICE. No war. No private army serving unchecked federal power. - Expand democracy, not corporate power. Hands off our vote (Trump, GOP, and Supreme Court).
For those SJNOW Indivisibles that might want to go to this Rally of unions and supporters, here are 2 suggestions for ways to get there from a location in South Jersey:
-Option 1. Show up at 2:30 PM (NEW) at 468 Pearl St in Camden and join the May Day: Camden to Philly March, sponsored by various SJ unions. The march starts at this location, goes across the Ben Franklin Bridge Walkway, and ends up at the 4 PM Rally at City Hall in Philly (a walk of about 2.2 miles). If people are unable to walk for this event, they are preparing ridesharing options to take people directly to Philly City Hall instead. Here is the Mobilize link: May Day Rally
-Option 2. Show up at 3 PM on May 1 at the Woodcrest Station of the PATCO High Speed Line. Join some of us who will be taking this train to the "15th/16th and Locust" stop in Philly and will be walking a few blocks to attend the 4 PM Rally at Philly City Hall.
2. MAY 2 CITIZENS BANK RALLIES IN MARLTON & SEWELL: Please attend our next Citizens Bank Rally at 10:30 AM, SAT, May 2. This Rally is demanding that Citizens Bank (CB) Stop Funding ICE Prison Camps. Rally occurs at a Citizens Bank branch, located at the intersection of Rt 73N and Greentree Rd in Marlton. We have plenty of signs that people can use.
We are also encouraging people that live in or near Gloucester County to attend a 10:30 AM, SAT, May 2 Citizens Bank (CB) Rally in Sewell, located at 301 Greentree Rd (in Sewell).
3. CALL TO ACTION: SUPPORT WAR POWERS RESOLUTION AND REFUSE TO PASS SUPPLEMENTAL SPENDING FOR IRAN WAR
We must continue to pressure Congress to end this war in Iran. Congress cannot allow Trump to exploit devastating geopolitical conflicts for his own benefit. We must end this illegal war. Call our senators to tell them to continue to support a war powers resolution to exert Congress's constitutional authority over conflict AND to REFUSE to pass any supplemental funding for unauthorized military action.
Senator Cory Booker 202-224-3224 856-338-8922
Senator Andy Kim 202-224-4744 856-757-5353
