Next meeting Monday, Feb 9 at 7 pm - see NEWS for info
Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
The prices of the artwork at our Art Sale have been lowered yet more!
If you want to buy a beautiful painting for yourself, for someone’s birthday or for a holiday, these lovely artworks are going on sale for the last time on Friday, July 5th from 1-5 P.M.
at 234 Eastbourne Terrace, Moorestown.
Everything really must go as the artist is downsizing to a smaller home!
Please come and enjoy some delicious snacks, wine and cheese and lovely music with us! Half of the proceeds of all your purchases will go to our group SJNOW Indivisible,
helping us to keep democracy strong!
It’s official! The discounted stamps work!!! I sent out 6 postcards using the discounted postcards and they were all received. I can now put my “stamp” of approval on them. It’s a big savings.
Something you can do to prevent this reconciliation bill from passing- join a phonebook- see below.
If Paul and Tillis stand strong as NO votes, only two more Republicans need to abstain or vote no before the vote fails. It’s an uphill fight, but it’s possible -- especially if we keep the pressure on.
And remember: Even if the Senate approves the bill tonight, it still needs to pass again in the House, where opposition is already lining up. We’ll have another chance to stop this monstrosity, and we won’t stop fighting until every vote is cast. So if you’ve got a Republican representative, go ahead and use this tool to send them an email.
Home Depots have become a primary target of brutal ICE raids. We’ve seen ICE round up dozens of day laborers at a time, including US citizens. We’ve seen them smash windows to snatch people out of cars.
On July 1, our partners in the labor movement are holding a Stand Up to ICE day of action at Home Depots across the country. Workers will head to Home Depots to distribute Know Your Rights leaflets containing information on what to do if you see someone detained or if you are detained by ICE.
This day of action is being led by our friends SEIU and the Labor Force. Please follow their guidance for safe, legal actions on July 1, and refer any questions to your local event organizers.
Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
The Art Sale starts Thursday 6:30pm - 9:30pm!!! 200 highly discounted amazing works of art by a well known area artist. She has moved into a 1 bedroom condo and all art must go.
We get 50% of the proceeds!!

Call to Action: Demand Kristi Noem resign as Secretary of the Dept of Homeland Security (DHS)
Kristi Noem has put US communities in jeopardy with her lack of experience and general incompetence in her roll as DHS Secretary from the very start. She needs to be made to resign immediately from her DHS position. When testifying before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Secretary Noem defined habeas corpus as a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this countryinstead of saying it is a constitutional legal principal that safeguards people from unlawful imprisonment by enabling them to petition the court to review the legality of their detention. Under her leadership DHS has targeted and detained verified US citizens, in some cases deporting them without due process.
Recently her security team forcibly removed, pushed to the ground and handcuffed Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) at her LA press conference for asking a question. She has stated that federal authorities will remain in LA for an indefinite period to "liberate the city". Noem requested that the Dept of Defense deploy US troops against LA protestors, stifling free speech and escalating violence, while sweeping immigration raids are continuing in LA and other US cities.
Contact your elected officials to demand that they call immediately for Kristi Noem's resignation as DHS Secretary.
"Hi, my name is (name), and I am a constituent living at (use full address if leaving a voicemail). I am calling to urge my Representative (or Senator) to call for the immediate resignation of Kristi Noem. Her lack of knowledge and disregard for free speech and due process rights, as well as her outrageous treatment of an elected official and others makes her unfit for this important position."
Call
Representative Herb Conaway at (202) 225-4765 or (609) 438-6290
Representative Donald Norcross at (202) 225-6501 or (856) 427-7000
Senator Cory Booker at (202) 224-3224 or (856) 338-8922
Senator Andy Kim at (202) 224-4744 or (856) 757-5353
Because of demand- Postcarding has resumed!!! Sue Anolik is on vacation until July 14 so I will taking over until then. Email me directly at: eileenghill@gmail.com.
The postcards are to register New Democratic Voters for the Governors Race in November. Right now they have 35,000 addresses left. Field team 6 always gets more, but you might have to wait a few weeks.
If you are new to postcarding, please indicate that in your email. I have a separate sheet of instructions for you. If you are not a newbie , you know the drill. You need to tell me how many postcards you are committing to doing. Since we had a problem the last round, I'm going to reiterate, if you commit to doing 25, 50 or 100 postcards, once the names and addresses are released to you, you are in charge of writing them, putting a stamp on them and mailing them. You cannot give the names and addresses back to me. You can't say you're tired or you changed your mind. Please ask a friend or family member to do them for you in the event you're really stuck. In the event of a sudden life-threatening emergency or major family disaster, you can give them back to me.
This rarely happens but it did happen recently.
Laura Beverage has been using a discounted stamp site for years.
https://foreverstampsshop.com/collections/all
I trust Laura Beverage 100% but I haven’t used these stamps yet. I just ordered some and when I get them in 7 to 10 days, I'm going to mail a couple of postcards to friend and family and document that they received. Once I have done that I can formally recommend this site to you. If you want to use it before then, just know this does not have my stamp (haha) of approval until I use them myself.
Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
BREAKING: U.S. forces stationed in Qatar have been attacked. We are on the precipice of all-out war as a result of Trump's decision to bomb Iran.
Let's be clear: Trump’s decision to bomb Iran was illegal. Article 1 of the Constitution makes it crystal clear that Congress has the SOLE authority to declare war. Bernie Sander’s & Ro Khanna’s bills exercise that authority to stop Trump’s war with Iran.
This is an extremely dangerous situation: U.S. service members are now directly in harms way as a result of Trump's decision to bomb Iran, and we are on the cusp of a catastrophic conflict that could cost countless American and Iranian lives.
As Bernie said when he heard the news in the middle of his Oligarchy Tour rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma this weekend:
“The American people do not want more war, more death. It’s a good idea if we concentrate on the problems that exist in Oklahoma and Vermont, rather than getting involved in another war that the American people do not want!”
The stakes couldn't be higher. Over two decades of American military entanglements have cost us more than $8 trillion, hundreds of thousands of lives, and immeasurable suffering across the Middle East.
We cannot let it happen again. No. More. War.
Call members of Congress and tell them to support Bernie Sander’s and Ro Khanna’s Bills to stop Trump’s illegal war with Iran! Article 1 of the Constitution makes it crystal clear that Congress has the SOLE authority to declare war. Bernie Sander’s & Ro Khanna’s bills exercise that authority to stop Trump’s war with Iran.

Call to Action: Stop US Involvement in the Israel-Iran Conflict
Trump announced on the evening of 6/21, airstrikes on 3 Iranian nuclear sites. This pulled the US into Israel's conflict with Iran without authorization by Congress which is required for a declaration of war. Because this endangers lives here and abroad, Congress must do everything it can to de-escalate this situation and stop Trump's warmongering now.
Israel launched attacks on Iran's nuclear and military sites in Iran on 6/13. Leaders of the G7 (Group of 7 nations) leaders called for a quick de-escalation during their summit in Canada. Trump didn't initially want to sign on. Trump left and began making inflammatory statements about the conflict, threatening Iranian leaders with a regime change and hinting that the US might enter the conflict on the side of Israel.
As Trump authorized shifting warships and aircraft into the Middle East, legislators from both parties raised alarms about a possible unending conflict. Both House and Senate members introduced resolutions to invoke the 1973 War Powers resolution, requiring congressional authorization or a declaration of war as a check on the executive branch before US Forces can take action against Iran. Demand that your Senators and Representatives sign on as cosponsors of the resolutions H.Con.Res.38 (House) and S.J.Res.59 (Senate).
"Hi, my name is (name) and I'm a constituent living at (complete address if leaving a voicemail). I'm calling to urge my Representative to support H.Con.Res.38 (or my Senator to support S.J.Res.59) by becoming a cosponsor. The bipartisan war powers resolution will stop Trump's administration from involving us any further in the Israel-Iran war without congressional approval. Congress must maintain its authority and prevent our involvement in another endless war.
Call Representative Herb Conaway at (202) 225-4765 or (609) 438-6290
Call Representative Donald Norcross at (202) 225-6501 or (856) 427-7000
Call Senator Cory Booker at (202) 224-3224 or (856) 338-8922
Call Senator Andy Kim at (202) 224-4744 or (856) 757-5353
Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
The Art Sale is going to be EPIC! I have seen the Art! People who have helped set it up have loved it so much they already bought $1,000 worth of art. The art is ridiculously inexpensive for the quality. The flyer has been posted in 44 locations. Can we do more? Here is the link to the poster and the spreadsheet to let us know where you posted it. There’s only 5 days until the first sale date June 26. Sale dates are June 26, June 28 and July 5.
We are getting 50% of the sales. We could get thousands of dollars and I wouldn’t have to keep asking you for money!
Please post the one flyer I asked you to do at the meeting.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
The price of postcard stamps is going up yet again on July 13th.
Call your Governors and tell them to deny any requests to deploy the National Guard in your state. Tell your reps to do something about these illegal deployments against peaceful protestors, before even more people are hurt or killed by the government.
Condemn Trump’s Use of National Guard and Military Against Americans
Debra suggested this earlier and more detailed link.
Prevent US Involvement in the Israel-Iran Conflict
On June 13th, Israel launched attacks on nuclear and military sites in Iran with a stated goal of stopping the expansion of their nuclear program. Iran then retaliated with attacks on Israeli sites, escalating the conflict, and the two countries have continued to trade military strikes since. Leaders of the Group of 7 (G7) nations, an informal bloc of industrialized democracies, were quick to call for a de-escalation during their summit in Canada, though Trump initially did not want to sign onto the statement. He has consistently made inflammatory and unverifiable statements to the press and on social media about the conflict: calling for the evacuation of Tehran, threatening Iranian leaders, and hinting at the U.S. joining Israel in their push for a regime change in Iran.
As Trump authorizes the military to shift aircraft and warships to the Middle East, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have raised alarms about the U.S. getting involved in this conflict. Members of both the House and Senate have introduced resolutions that invoke the 1973 War Powers Resolution and require congressional authorization or a declaration of war for U.S. forces to take action against Iran. Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA), who is leading the war powers resolution in the Senate, stated “The American people have no interest in sending service members to fight another forever war in the Middle East.”
U.S. involvement in this Iran-Israel conflict is painfully reminiscent of the 2003 Iraq War — questionable authorization, weapons of mass destruction misinformation, and goals of regime change. Congress must maintain its authority as a strong check on the executive branch and prevent the Trump administration from launching the U.S. into another endless war. Demand your representatives support a war powers resolution.
Check if your Senators or House Rep have signaled support by co-sponsoring the resolution:
House resolution: H.Con.Res. 38
Senate resolution: S.J.Res. 59

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from Medford.
I’m calling to urge Rep. Herbert Conaway to support [if calling Senate: S.J.Res. 59 / if calling House: H.Con.Res. 38], the bipartisan war powers resolution, and curtail the Trump administration’s ability to involve the U.S. in the Israel-Iran war without congressional authorization. Congress must maintain its authority and prevent us from getting into yet another endless war.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lVI70YjKyHc3I_GGV7J6dAwgcgxuLMChzhCoQrdwaew/edit?usp=sharing
Please post the flyer on your personal Facebook page. Please include that the Art is highly discounted. The artist is selling her home and all art must go!
The next meeting is July 14 at 7pm at the Mount Laurel Community Center. We are no longer mailing you minutes of the meetings. It is too time consuming. If you don't attend, you are missing things. You'll get most of it from the emails but not all.
We are talking about College Voter Registration at the next meeting. It's important. If you're not on vacation, please be there. We need to win this Governor's race!
If you want to feel good, watch Rachel Maddow from June 16. Tim Snyder who wrote the book on Autocracy said "deploying the military against his own people will not work in America." If he said it, I believe it.

SJNOW INDIVISIBLE JUNE 16, 2025 INFO AND CALLS FOR ACTION
1. In a late afternoon call, earlier today, Ezra levin and the Indivisible Team announced some great information regarding No Kings Day. Celebrate! 2,169 No Kings Day protests including 27 countries! This is shaping up to be one of the largest protests in American history. It’s at least 50% larger than the then-record-breaking April Hands Off! protest. And in addition to being notably larger, the crowds were notably diverse in age and race. It was a real demonstration of what pluralistic democracy looks like in this country.
2. Blue State Indivisibles: Call on your AG to fight hard against ICE overreach in your state. Over the weekend, Donald Trump doubled down on his calls for ICE to get even more aggressive and unlawful -- targeting blue states and big cities, in particular. State Attorneys General have real power to fight back, and we need to put the pressure on them to use every tool at their disposal to hold ICE in check.
3. Call folks in target states to connect them with GOP senators and disrupt the Republican Tax Scam. As the Senate rewrites the reconciliation bill, we’re making sure key senators hear from their angry constituents -- by calling folks to connect them directly to senators' offices! Phonebanks take place weekly, and anyone can join with just a phone and a computer.
4. Join a special Wednesday edition of “What’s the Plan” to see Leah and Ezra answer your questions about following up No Kings, ICE, and more. This Wednesday at 3pm ET (12pm PT), our co-founders will jump online to break down what we saw at No Kings Day and answer your questions directly! Come be part of a free-flowing, interactive chat about what’s next in our fight for democracy.
See our 'ACTION' page for more things to do!
Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
For the Art Sale, we have changed how the paintings are going to be set up. Arnold and Ellen Barnett are hanging the paintings themselves. They need some help from 1 to 2 people a day.
They need help June 17-21 and June 23-25 from 1-4pm.
Please let me know which date(s) you can make, your name and cell phone number so they can contact you if there is a change. Please help! They have 200 paintings. They cannot do this by themselves.
Please confirm if you have signed up to help on the sale days and provide cell number.
Thursday June 26, 6:30pm-9pm
Saturday June 28 1-5pm
July 5 1-5 pm
We need at least 3 people on July 5 to commit to staying after the sale ends at 5pm to repack the unsold paintings, sweep the garage and tidy up. Again, please provide name and phone number. Carol, John and I cannot do this by ourselves. Please help.
I’m counting on you guys. You never let me down.
Eileen
SOS SOS SOS
We need Help with the Art Sale
This is urgent and will require so little of your time!
We are in desperate need of having the art flyer distributed. The first art sale date is June 26. We have a beautiful flyer and 200 gorgeous paintings but it doesn't do any good if no one has seen it. I am asking every single one of you who opens this email to commit to posting one flyer. It doesn't matter where you post it. It can be your synagogue, church, hair salon, library, community center, clubhouse, supermarket etc. etc. etc. You get the idea. We can potentially make a huge amount of money from this fundraiser, but only if we sell paintings.
We have 313 members now. I am asking everyone who reads this email to give me five minutes of your time. We can do a lot of activism with this money and Democracy needs us. We have a Governor's race to win and a Country to save!
The PDF of the flyer for you to print is here (click to open or download)
I will also have flyers at the Monday meeting 7 PM at the Community House in Mount Laurel. Doors open at 6:30pm. We expect a crowd. Come early if you want a seat. If you don't have a colored printer and have to print this in black-and-white, it is better than nothing. You can use highlighters and underline things with colored markers so that people see the relevant information.
In addition, one of our members has created a Google spreadsheet so you can update us with your name and where you posted the flyer. This way we don't duplicate any efforts and it gives other people ideas of where to post. It also tells me who has answered my urgent plea. Time is of the essence, it needs to be done ASAP. Of course I'd be thrilled if people wanted to put up more than one. Put up as many as you want. The more paintings we sell, the more money goes to SJNOWIndivisible. Also, if we make a lot of money, I won't have to keep asking you guys for donations.
If some of you want to get this into your weekly local circulars or on-line local papers, I’m fine with that. I will reimburse you. If it’s more than $75, please clear it with me first.
Cooper River needs a few more safety marshalls. If you were going to the Cooper River Indivisible Kings Day rally and feel you can possibly help with this, please email me immediately at eileenghill@gmail.com and I will put you in touch with Adam Sheridan.
It's very important for us to maintain close ties with Cooper River Indivisible. They are three times our size and can help us with many of our projects. Adam has also been very good about informing me of everything Cooper River Indivisible is doing. If there is anyone who thinks that this is a possibility for them, it would help us to help Cooper River Indivisible.
They are expecting 1000 people...
Eileen

Please sign up for these June virtual Phone Banking Sessions at this website.
https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/792462/
As the GOP Senators rewrite the awful Big Ugly Budget Reconciliation Bill that was passed in the House in May by 1 vote, National Indivisible is making sure vulnerable Senators hear from their angry constituents by calling people to connect them directly to Senators' offices! Phonebanks happen weekly, and anyone can join with just a phone and computer. Here’s a recorded phonebank training to hit the ground running!
4. Condemn Trump’s Use of National Guard and Military Against Americans!!!
Trump’s deployment of the National Guard without consent of California’s governor is a dangerous escalation of his authoritarian tactics. Further, he does not intend to limit this action to California or Los Angeles or even to areas where protests are already happening; his memo authorizes the National Guard and active duty military troops to protect federal immigration officers and operations wherever “protests against these functions are occurring or likely to occur.” Trump also directed Hegseth to coordinate troop deployments with state governors, plural, signaling the possibility of Republican-controlled troops being sent to Democratic-controlled states.
Trump has long shown no hesitation to use the military on domestic soil to attack perceived threats to his fascist agenda. Representatives and governors must condemn and resist Trump’s attacks on our communities and constitutional rights.
Please call Governor Murphy and our State Representative to condemn the Trump administration’s deployment of the National Guard and military to attack Americans exercising their right to protest. These authoritarian policies and attacks on our rights and communities must stop!!

5. CALL TO ACTION:
Call your NJ Senators to urge them to oppose (in the awful House H.R. 1 "Big Ugly Bill") the Medicaid, Medicare, and ACA cuts (amounting to 14M people losing their healthcare nationwide), in order to fund huge tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations.
Also, urge them to Hold in June In-Person Town Halls in the 3 NJ GOP Congressional Districts to Pressure these 3 GOP Congressmen to Oppose a Future Senate-Revised GOP "Big Ugly Bill"
H.R. 1, the House budget reconciliation bill, will cause millions of people on Medicaid to lose access to health care while making Medicaid more expensive and complex to administer. Also, the recent Congressional Budget Office (CBO) analysis shows that paying for wealthy people's tax cuts would lead to $500 billion in cuts to Medicare.
This "Big Ugly Bill" legislation will cut off millions of people from needed health care and will destroy lives and local economies, all while increasing the deficit by $2.5 trillion.
So please make these calls today to Senators Kim and Booker.
IF LEAVING A VOICEMAIL: Please leave your name and full street address to ensure your call is tallied!
Senator Andy Kim - 202-224-4744, 856-757-5353
Senator Corey Booker - 202-224-3224, 856-338-8922

As the GOP Senators rewrite the awful Big Ugly Budget Reconciliation Bill that was passed in the House in May by 1 vote, National Indivisible is making sure vulnerable Senators hear from their angry constituents by calling people to connect them directly to Senators' offices! Phonebanks happen weekly, and anyone can join with just a phone and computer.
5. Trump's attempt to militarize California is an alarming abuse of power. He is doing this on purpose to inflame and divide us. The nation is watching California and how it responds!
Call Governor Newsom to let him know he has our full support as he is not only representing his state but all of us fighting for our democracy. All the Democratic Governors released a statement Slamming Trump for the abuse of power and sending the National Guard into LA. Let's call Gov Murphy to thank him for standing with CA!! We must stay unified!!

For New Members: Recurring Activities for SJNOW Indivisible
1. Rally every Friday from 4:30 to 5:30 PM at the intersection of Ark Road and Route 38 in Mount Laurel. You can park in the Aldi's parking lot. Attendance has steadily grown. There have been as many as about 150 people attend. People love to honk at our signs and you can feel the excitement
For more information, email Dave Lipshutz at: delipshutz@comcast.net
2. Postcarding -- We do a lot of post-carding and have participated in multiple campaigns since 2017. We have sent well over 100,000 postcards. Currently we have two postcard campaigns going. One is to register new Democratic voters for the Governors race in November 2025. The other is a campaign to contact the 16,000 registered Burlington County Democrats who did not vote in the 2024 election. Obviously, the goal is to get them to vote in November 2025. Postcarding is a great way to deal with anxiety about current events—writing to people so that they register to vote!
We provide everything but the postage. For more information, contact Sue Anolik at: sueanoliksjmoms@gmail.com

Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) was recently pressed on how she felt about Iowans dying due to Medicaid and SNAP cuts in this Big Ugly Republican reconciliation bill. When the crowd at her recent Town Hall said people will die due to these huge cuts, she said "well we are all going to die".
At 11 AM on June 5, Indivisibles nationwide are calling Iowans to let them know what Senator Ernst said and connect them directly to her office!

Your T shirts and caps are ready to order now! You only have 5 days. There are other items in the web store, including long sleeve T-shirts and sweatshirts.
You can order all of the apparel with or without the words "Ask Me" on the back. The concept is to grow our identity as a group, but also to grow our membership. Being willing to answer questions about our group will help people decide to join.
Pay attention when you order to make sure you get what you want. It is all nonrefundable and not returnable.
There are women's and men's sizes available. The men's are also unisex for women who want a looser fitting product. I personally have too many unisex T-shirts that do not fit because they're too tight on the hips. That's why I insisted on women's sizes.
Again, the webstore is only live for 5 days!!

Call your NJ friends and family. Remind them to vote in the primary for Governor on June 10th.
With the rise of authoritarianism, it's important that we select a candidate for Governor that can win statewide in November AND protect our democracy. There's so much at risk here at home - from protecting women's health, to housing affordability, the quality of our schools and NJ Transit. And, most importantly, who will stand up to Trump.
Primary voting is next week. Let's get as many folks to the polls as we can.

Call to Action
Urge Your Members of Congress (MOCs) to Hold in June In-Person Town Halls in the 3 NJ GOP Congressional Districts to Pressure these 3 GOP Congressmen to Oppose a Future Senate-Revised GOP "Big Ugly Bill"
In April, many SJNOW Indivisibles attended Congressman Herb Conaway's and Senator Kim's Town Halls. Based on our Indivisibles speaking up at these Town Halls, both Conaway and Kim promised in public to hold Town Halls in one or more of the 3 NJ GOP Congressional Districts.
The main topic of these future Town Halls will be opposition to Trump/GOP plans to enact massive cuts in Medicaid, Medicare, the ACA, SNAP, Education, & Clean Energy (affecting millions of people in NJ) to fund huge tax cuts for the Wealthy and Corporations.
It is now June. We need to call these 2 MOCs (Conaway and Kim) to urge them to follow through on their April Town Hall public promises-and to schedule and publicize these events in June well in advance!
We also need to call Senator Booker's and Congressman Norcross' offices to encourage them to hold in June Town Halls in one or more NJ GOP Districts.
So please make these calls today to Kim, Booker, and the offices of your appropriate House MOCs.
Senator Andy Kim

Senator Corey Booker

Wear Orange Concert to End Gun Violence will be held in Wiggins Waterfront Park on the banks of the Delaware overlooking the Philadelphia Skyline. Over 2,000 people will be in attendance at this free concert featuring Who's Bad: The Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute Band (starts 8:00 PM). Prior to the Concert, there will be a Resource Fair beginning at 6 PM, featuring Souls Shot Portrait Program and representatives from many area organizations who are focused on the safety and wellness of the community. We have a table at this event. At 7 PM, there will presentations from distinguished guests. The nearby Ben Franklin Bridge and prominent buildings in Camden will be lit up in orange lights.
This event will be an excellent opportunity for SJNOW Indivisibles to learn from and interact with many people and groups in South Jersey that are working to end gun violence and its destructive effects on families, schools, and communities

LATEST NEWS OF THE RESISTANCE—Republicans as well as Democrats turn against Trump
Changes In Congress:
Democratic congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, a young Black woman from Texas, had earned the anger of Donald Trump for her open criticism of him, causing her to receive death threats. However, she stated this week that she knows the Republicans are looking at the polling and said, “I can tell you in real life that I’ve had a number of Republicans approach me as they see me out, and they say, “Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I really like you. Like, we come from completely different parties, but I believe that you are fighting for the people. I believe that you are trying to do what’s best for all of us. I may disagree with, like, how you feel like we get there, but I agree with your fight.” PennLive.com. 5/31/25.
The Federalist Society, the most powerful legal group in the country, composed of right leaning and right wing lawyers, has recently shown a tendency to turn against Trump’s policies as well. Although originally close allies of Trump, suggesting judges he could appoint, at a recent Federalist Society conference, many speakers denounced Trump’s incompetence and stated that his signature policy regarding tariffs were illegal. They also spoke about diminishing Trump’s power and shifting authority toward the judiciary. Vox News, 5/31/25.
Changes In Industry
Steve Madden, the famous shoe designer, severely criticized Trump’s tariffs, which has particularly affected the fashion industry. His now-viral clip garnered 4.5+ million views and over 5000 comments. He stated, “They fundamentally do not understand what they’re doing,” explaining that although we have lost jobs to China I the past, “we’ve picked up other jobs that we would not have had—better jobs, many better jobs—as a result of our relationship with China.”
Protestors Track Down Reps. Lauren Boebert and Gabe Evans at a News Conference
The protesters heckled, jeered, chanted and tried to disrupt the news conference as these Representatives tried to tout Trump’s “big, beautiful” bill, which would strip away health care for the poorest Americans, including millions of children, while giving tax breaks to the richest people in the country. If it passed, 230,000 people would lose Medicaid overnight in Colorado alone.
