Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
The next meeting is Monday, November 17 at 7pm at the Mount Laurel Community Center.
1. 5 days left until e-day! The clock is ticking, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. New Jersey’s future is on the line — and so are the rights, freedoms, and safety of our loved ones. The current regime has shown us what happens when power is abused, now it’s our turn to fight back. This is the moment to rise, organize, and energize. From local races to statewide contests, Democratic candidates need our support — and every vote counts.
Whether you’ve got 5 minutes or 5 hours, there are many opportunities to help elect/re-elect Democratic candidates up and down the ballot, and to Get Out The Vote. Also note the Sunday evening rally with Andy Kim at the bottom of the list.

3. Stop the anti-vax movement!
Trump‘s latest anti-VAX nominee for US Surgeon General is Casey Means – her hearing starts Thursday 10/30, and approving her as Surgeon General should be opposed. The Surgeon General oversees the US Public Health Service, provides health advice, and is considered “the nation’s doctor.“ Casey Means is totally unqualified for this important position.

Hi, my name is (name). I am a constituent from (city, zip). I’m calling to urge my REP/SEN to oppose Casey Means’ appointment as US Surgeon General.
1. Casey Means is a wellness influencer who has a lapsed medical license.
2. She promotes lies regarding immunizations that save children’s lives.
3. She proposes pseudo cures such as raw milk, reductions in vaccinations and supplements that she sells for profit.
Casey Means is totally unfit for the job of US Surgeon General.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Calling all Cooks!!
As many of you know, one of our fearless leaders, Ralph Hendrickson, had major abdominal surgery. It will take about two months for him to completely heal. He is the cook in the family. We are providing meals for them for the next two months.
Ralph kept SJNOWIndivisible going from 2019-2024. I burned out after getting Andy Kim elected. He stepped up to the plate. He came up to me in March 2019 at my Thank You party and said "I'll do it." Now it's our turn to take care of him.
Thank you to the people who have signed up to cook.
There are 7 slots open. I will do it all myself but I was hoping with 368 people in the group, I wouldn't have to. Can you help?
He is on a low fiber diet that is limited and boring. The link is in the sign up sheet. If you know how to cook at all, this will not be a challenge. We are asking people to provide 3 dinners. Drop offs are on the weekend and on Wednesdays. This way two people can cover the whole week.
Spices are OK along with things like soy sauce, marinades etc.
If the two page diet doesn’t specifically exclude something, I am assuming it is OK.
Please address questions to me directly by text or email.
eileenghill at gmail dot com
Please DO NOT CALL ME unless it is urgent.
I would call them before you drop off to make sure it is a good time. Please email me to request Ralph’s cell number after you sign up.
According to Ralph, they typically eat pretty simple food. It doesn’t sound like there is anything he doesn’t like.
The only no no is garlic.
Today I brought them broiled chicken breasts, salmon and pork tenderloin. I also brought them mashed potatoes. They can only have white potatoes without skin. Vegetables right now are limited to carrots and string beans.I also brought them melon, and canned pears and peaches.I bought an italian bread on the way over.
All I did was read the diet sheet.
They were very very very appreciative of the meals.

2. Stop the illegal attacks on alleged drug running
As of Oct 24, 2025, 46 people in 9 vessels suspected of drug smuggling by the Trump administration have been killed by the US military, ordered by President Trump without authorization by Congress. (The number was reported by Military.com and confirmed by Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Defense.)
On September 19, 2025, the “New York Times” reported that a draft bill is being circulated in Washington that would authorize President Trump to kill people he deemed to be Narco-Terrorists, and attack the countries that he says helped them. Legal experts say that the attacks on nine vessels by the US military in the international waters of the Caribbean are illegal. Trump says people he accused of smuggling drugs seemingly coming towards the US were killed in a series of military operations he ordered without congressional authorization and without known evidence or trials being conducted. (Senator Rand Paul R KY has condemned killing anyone without a trial.)
Working with Senator Tim Kane D from VA, Senator Adam Schiff D of CA said he would introduce a measure to prevent presidents from waging war without congressional consent. They will introduce this war powers measure directing the Trump administration to stop additional planned strikes, giving authority over use of our military forces back to Congress,
Script:
Hi, my name is (name). I am a constituent from (city, zip). I am asking my Rep/Senator to:
(pick one or several topics below):
1. Conduct public investigations into the attacks authorized by the Trump administration without congressional approval.
2. Support the war powers resolution by Adam Schiff and Tim Kane to stop military strikes unauthorized by Congress.
3. Call for the resignation of Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense and Marco Rubio as Secretary of State for implementing and encouraging illegal actions by the President and US Military.
4. Support articles of impeachment and move to convict President Trump for his repeated defiance of Congress.

New Members: There’s a lot you can do between now and Nov 4!!
The next meeting is Monday, November 17 at 7pm at the Mount Laurel Community Center.
We have less than 2 weeks left before the Nov 4 Election Day! It is time to do something! Here are some suggestions.
1. SJNOW Indivisible Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Weekend Canvassing (Door Knocking) in Burlington County for Mikie Sherrill and LD7 & LD8 Assembly Campaigns.
-Please email Pete Bilazarian at pbilazar@aol.com, if you are interested in weekend canvassing events for these Campaigns. Newcomers are welcome and will be trained. Federal Government Call to Action
Demand that Rep Grijalva be sworn into the House of Representatives
On September 23rd, Adelita Grijalva won a special election in Arizona. However, Speaker Mike Johnson has refused to swear in the new legislator, claiming that he can only do so when the House is in regular session. This is clearly a blatant lie, as he has sworn in other Republican members while the House was in recess.
Speaker Johnson is simply trying to delay a vote on the release of the Epstein files to appease Trump. The newly elected representative Grijalva has already vowed to join the discharge petition for the Epstein files. Clearly, Trump is afraid of having those files released, and Speaker Johnson is doing Trump's bidding.
The American people have a right to see the Epstein files and residents in Grijalva’s district have the right to representation, as they have duly elected a member to the House.
Call your Representative and tell him to pressure Speaker Johnson to immediately swear Grijalva in and stop obstructing the democratic process to appease Trump.

NJ Government Call to Action
Urge the NJ Senate President and the NJ Assembly Speaker to Bring to the Floor and Support Passage of the Immigrant Trust Act (S3672/A4987) during the Lame Duck Session, which begins after Nov 4. NEW. Also, Urge Our LD7 and LD8 NJ State Reps to Publicly Support Passage of This Act.
The Immigrant Trust Act establishes protections for immigrants interacting with government agencies. The enforcement of federal immigration law is the responsibility of the federal government and falls outside the scope of state, county, and municipal law enforcement agencies.
The Immigrant Trust Act protects the personal information of NJ immigrants, since it limits what can be collected by agencies. It separates law enforcement from federal immigration enforcement. It limits NJ involvement in federal detection and deportation systems. It eliminates caveats that deny some legal protections to immigrants that are enjoyed by NJ citizens.
The Immigrant Trust Act requires public schools, health care facilities, libraries, and shelters to adopt policies to help immigrants feel safe. It also requires law enforcement agencies to submit reports on their interaction with immigration authorities.

With the current Immigrant Trust Directive being challenged and outside threats looming, there is no time to waste in strengthening protections for New Jersey's numerous hard working immigrant communities. This moment calls for leadership and decisive action. Please do your part to ensure that NJ remains the state of liberty and prosperity.
Thank you.

Federal Government Call to Action
Urge Your NJ Senators to Continue to Fight Trump/GOP Historic Healthcare Cuts and Trump's Lawless Manipulation of Federal Funds
The Senate vote on October 20 failed to reopen the government for the 11th time. As this shutdown continues, the pressure is mounting on our Senators to give in to the devastating Trump agenda, just to get the government running again. A few Democrats and Independents have already caved (King, Cortez Masto and Fetterman).
We need to urge our Senators to KEEP FIGHTING and let them know they have our support. Our Senators need to know that their constituents are still behind them.
Trump’s agenda includes historic healthcare cuts and cost increases that will cause a healthcare crisis here in NJ and throughout the country. Moreover, it allows Trump’s continued lawless manipulation of federal funds.
Call your Senators and an applaud them for standing strong, and tell them DO NOT SURRENDER until Republicans offer a fair deal that preserves healthcare and reins Trump in!

Hi, my name is (name) and I am a constituent from (city, zip). I’m calling to urge (Senate President Nicholas Scutari/Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin) to bring to the floor and support passage of the Immigrant Trust Act (S3672/A4987) during the lame duck session that begins after the upcoming election.
Thank you.

No Kings Call to Action
April Hands Off: 3 million at 1,300 events.
June No Kings: 5 million at 2,100 events.
October No Kings: 7 million people at 2,700 events.
Let’s use the energy we built at the protests and tell our Congress: No Kings in America!
Since Inauguration Day, Trump has consistently upended our constitution and started an authoritarian take over. Call your Representative and Senators and let them know we see this harmful takeover happening and we don’t do kings in America.
He has deployed the military against Americans in our own U.S. cities.
He has exploited emergency powers to circumvent established law and enact illegal policies, including tariffs and military strikes.
He has attacked our freedom of speech by threatening legal action against media companies and news organizations for critical coverage, revoking visas from immigrants for their views, and directing the Justice Department to target political opponents.
He has withheld federal funding to assert political control over universities and government agencies.
He has bulldozed Congress’ constitutional authority over tariffs, the budget, and military authorizations to consolidate power within the executive branch.
He has repeatedly defied federal court orders and attacked judges who rule against him.
He has weaponized the Department of Justice to attack political enemies and shield himself and his allies from prosecution.
He has threatened states’ authority to over their elections and pushed for additional partisan gerrymandering to rig congressional elections.
He has personally profited off his position by using “donations” and lawsuit threats as tools for bribery.
In any other administration, just one of these egregious displays of authoritarianism would merit the removal of a president. It is beyond unacceptable. Demand that Congress use their constitutional role to stop this fascist attack on our democracy. Stop Trump’s dictatorial rule.
SCRIPT FOR YOUR CALL:
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP].
I’m calling to express my outrage over the Trump administration’s ongoing abuses of power and Trump’s dictatorial rule. I ask that you
refuse to pass any blank check federal spending bill that enables this authoritarian government’s unconstitutional practices, (and)
file articles of impeachment and move to convict and remove Trump for his repeated defiance of the law, (and)
pledge to investigate and prosecute any government official who has participated in this administration’s illegal actions

Dear Fellow Indivisibles,
Yesterday, seven million people protested in cities and small towns across the United States in opposition to the Trump administration’s attacks on democracy. It was the third and largest mass demonstration since the administration took office . In Washington, D.C., 200,000 people marched. In Boston, 125,00 people gathered. In Boston Commons Senator Elizabeth Warren spoke to the huge crowd, saying, “Future generations will ask, “What did we do when fellow human beings faced persecution? When our rights were being abridged? When our Constitution was under attack? They’ll want to know whether we stood up or stayed silent.” Then she stated, “Standing up to a wannabe dictator? That is patriotism. “Peacefully protesting to protect our democracy? That is patriotism.”
Governor J.B. Pritzker of Illinois joined the front of the march in Chicago. He said, “History will judge us by where we choose to stand right now, today.” In New York City, 100,000 people filled the boroughs and a sea of people filled Times Square. In Georgia, protestors sang ”The Story of Tonight” from the musical “Hamilton", about the importance of sacrifice and solidarity today for the sake of freedom tomorrow.
There was “Optimism, hope and whimsy”, National Public Radio reported. One rally goer from Raleigh, North Carolina said, “Superb spirits of joy and energy to fight for the American Democracy we love.” People dressed in Halloween costumes and wore yellow to show solidarity. There was a menagerie of animal costumes, giant signs printed in 18th century script with the first words of the Constitution, “We the People”, which protestors enthusiastically signed. In Kalamazoo, Michigan, a protestor noted that
there were not just Baby Boomers in the crowd, but stated, “I think a lot of Younger people are getting the message. To effect change, you have to make yourself heard.”
A small but poignant sign of the solidarity there was that in Portland, Oregon, a police officer attended with a pink rose in his uniform. Notably, out of seven million rally goers and 2600-2700 events, not one arrest was made across the country. People also dressed in green like the Statue of Liberty or in scarlet Handmaid gowns to protest for women’s rights, including in our own nearby towns of Westmont and Collingswood where our SJNOW Indivisible group was present. People danced to a live band playing rock music, ate candy and waved their signs. Many people signed up to be part of our SJNOW Indivisible. One lady had a sign that said “Auntie Fa”. Another had a sign that read “No Faux King”. A young man held a sign that said “Release the files, not the pedophiles.”
In other venues, there were signs that read “The Pilgrims Were Immigrants” A man dressed as a clown walked down the street with a sign, “Real Clowns Would Run Things Better”. Another had a picture of Trump and Epstein, smiling. It read “They Weren’t Just Trading Recipes.” Another sign read, “I’m not a paid protestor. I hate Trump for Free.” Another said, “When You Elect a Rapist, You Get F’---d”. Apparently in Raleigh, North Carolina, a protestor apologized for not taking a picture of someone dressed as a huge inflatable penis, walking down the median holding a sign that read “Dicktator.” (Thank goodness Americans have not lost their sense of humor!)
So, the message was not hate America, as Republicans in Washington have said. It was “Love America” and “Love Our People.” No, Kings Day October 18th was a great success!
In another hopeful footnote, the day before the rally and five days after Barack Obama made an appearance and remonstrated with Universities, law firms and businesses not to submit to Trump, five major universities, Brown, M.I.T. UPenn., UCLA and University of Virginia told the administration that they would not sign a pact to include more “conservative” ideas in their curricula. They have joined Harvard University, which recently did the same thing and also recently won a favorable ruling in court on that issue. Go American Higher Education!
National Indivisible announced that our next goal was to win the November 4th elections! I feel great hope and energy about our future goals!
Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
FOR NO KINGS DAY 2, OCTOBER 18TH: INDIVISIBLES GOING TO PHILADELPHIA ARE MEETING UP AT THE WOODCREST PATCO STATION AT 10:30 A.M. SEE YOU THERE!
NEWS FROM THE RESISTANCE:
THE RESISTANCE CONTINUES TO TAKE OFF AND ACCELERATE. HERE ARE SOME OF THE LATEST NEWS:
MORE REPUBLICANS ARE RESISTING TRUMP’S AGENDA
SENATOR TED CRUZ OF TEXAS COMPARED FCC CHAIR BRENDAN CARR’S IMPLIED THREATS TO NETWORDS SUCH AS ABC TO MAFIA TACTICS,
CALLING THEM “DANGEROUS AS HELL”.
VIVEK RAMASWAMY, FORMERLY A GOP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, NOW RUNNING FOR OHIO GOVERNOR AGREED WITH SENATOR CRUZ.
HE MADE IT CLEAR THAT HE DISAGREED WITH THE ADMINISTRATION’S PRESSURING ABC, WHICH LED TO A BRIEF SUSPENSION OF THE JIMMY KIMMEL SHOW.
REPUBLICAN HOUSE MEMBER THOMAS MASSIE OF KENTUCKY JOINED MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE TO ECHO DEMOCRATS IN CHIDING
GOP CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS OVER THE SHUTDOWN. GREENE HAD SAID SHE WAS “ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED” THAT HEALTH INSURANCE COSTS FOR MILLIONS OF AMERICANS WOULD SOAR IF THE REPUBLICANS DID NOT AGREE TO OPEN THE GOVERNMENT AND EXTEND THE TAX CREDITS UNDER THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT.
REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR OF OKLAHOMA KEVIN STITT JOINED DEMOCRATS, CALLING TRUMP’S DECISION TO SEND TEXAS NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS TO ILLINOIS A VIOLATION OF “STATES RIGHTS”. HE ADDED THAT “OKLAHOMANS WOULD LOSE THEIR MIND” IF ILLINOIS GOV. JB PRITZKER (D) “SENT TROOPS DOWN TO OKLAHOMA DURING THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION”.
SENATOR SUSAN COLLINS OF MAINE CRITICIZED WHITE HOUSE BUDGET DIRECTOR RUSS VOUGHT OVER HIS DECISION TO PERMANENTLY
LAY OFF THOUSANDS OF FEDERAL WORKERS DURING THE SHUTDOWN. SEN. COLLINS SAID THE WORK OF THESE FEDERAL OFFICIALS WAS
“INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT TO SERVING THE PUBLIC.”
REPUBLICAN REP. KEVIN KILEY HAS ALSO EMERGED AS “AN OUTSPOKEN AND FEARLESS CRITIC” OF THE SHUTDOWN, ACCORDING TO POLITICO
AND HAS EXPRESSED STRONG DISAGREEMENT WITH THE STRATEGY TO GERRYMANDER STATES LIKE TEXAS. HE IS ASKING REPUBLICANS TO MAKE A DEAL WITH THE DEMOCRATS ON HEALTH INSURANCE SUBSIDIES AND PREDICTS THAT SUCH A DEAL WILL BE MADE. IN ADDITION, HE URGES THAT REP. GRIJALVA BE SWORN IN AND THAT THE EPSTEIN FILES BE RELEASED.
FORMER PRESIDENT OBAMA CAME OUT OF RETIREMENT TO BLAST COMPANIES AND UNIVERSITIES FOR BACKING DOWN TO TRUMP
OBAMA URGED ORGANIZATIONS TO “TAKE A STAND” RATHER THAN CAPITULATE TO PRESSURE ON HIRING AND DIVERSITY POLICIES. HE SAID THAT UNIVERSITIES SHOULD USE ENDOWMENTS TO WEATHER POTENTIAL FEDERAL GRANT LOSSES RATHER THAN COMPROMISE ACADEMIC INDEPENDENCE. HE ALSO SAID THAT BUSINESSES SHOULD MAINTAIN HIRING FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS AND REFUSE TO BE “BULLIED” INTO ACCEPTING CRITERIA “COOKED
UP BY STEVE MILLER.” HE STATED THAT LAW FIRMS SHOULD DECLARE THEY’LL “REPRESENT WHO WE WANT” AND UPHOLD THEIR CORE MISSIONS.
OBAMA IS ALSO APPEARING IN ADS BACKING THE PASSAGE OF PROPOSITION 50 BY CALIFORNIA VOTERS, AN EFFORT TO MATCH TEXAS’ GERRYMANDERING OF ITS VOTING MAPS BY DOING THE SAME THING IN CALIFORNIA. TURNING TRUMP’S RECENT STATEMENTS ACCUSING DEMOCRATIC FRAUD IN ELECTIONS AGAINST HIM, OBAMA WARNS VOTERS THAT REPUBLICAN ARE "TRYING TO STEAL ENOUGH SEATS IN CONGRESS TO RIG THE NEXT ELECTION”. AS IMAGES OF TRUMP FLASH ACROSS THE SCREEN.
GOVERNOR J.B. PRITZKER OF ILLINOIS, IS BEING CITED AS ANOTHER LEADER “AT THE RAMPARTS OF THE TRUMP RESISTANCE” ACCORDING TO AN OP-ED IN THE WASHINGTON POST.
“YOU COME FOR MY PEOPLE, YOU COME THROUGH ME”, PRITZKER SAID TWO DAYS AFTER TRUMP’S ELECTION. “IT’S TIME TO FIGHT EVERYWHERE AND ALL AT ONCE,” PRITZKER DECLARED IN A SPEECH IN NEW HAMPSHIRE BEFORE THE PRIMARY THAT BROUGHT DEMOCRATS
TO THEIR FEET. HE URGED THAT ANYTHING LESS THAN A FULL-THROATED BATTLE AGAINST TRUMP WAS A “MORAL ABDICATION.” HE STATED HIS CONCERN THAT MOST OF THE 2000 PEOPLE ARRESTED IN CHICAGO HAD NO CRIMINAL RECORD AND THAT WHEN ICE ATTACKED A BUILDING IN THE CITY THEY SET UP DOZENS OF CAMERAS
TO TAPE THE ACTION AND MADE EVERYONE LEAVE THE BUILDING AND DETAINED THEM, JUST FOR PUBLICITY. ALTHOUGH PRITZKER SAID REAL ASSISTANCE TO LAW ENFORCEMENT WOULD HAVE BEEN WELCOMED, TRUMP’S TROOPS WERE JUST AFTER RACIAL MINORITIES.
RIGHT WING MEDIA ARE CRITICIZING TRUMP
A FORMERLY STAUNCH BACKER OF TRUMP’S ELECTION, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL PUBLISHED AN OP-ED YESTERDAY THAT ASKED
REPUBLICANS TO DITCH THEIR MAGA INFLUENCE." THE OPINION URGED THAT THE PARTY RESTORE ”THE RULE OF LAW, GROUNDED IN THE U.S.
CONSTITUTION”, URGED UNITY, REMINDING THEIR PARTY THAT THEY WERE THE PARTY OF LINCOLN.
ALSO, A FOX BUSINESS NEWS REPORTER STATED ON X THAT THE CURRENT POLLS HAVE GOT TO BE “SCARY FOR THE WHITE HOUSE”, OPINING THAT THE REASON FOR THIS WAS THE ECONOMY. THE SENIOR CORRESPONDENT NOTED THAT PENNSYLVANIA, MICHIGAN, WISCONSIN, ARIZONA, GEORGIA, NEVADA AND NORTH CAROLINA, ALL SWING STATES THAT TRUMP WON, ARE NOW HOME TO MORE VOTERS WHO DISAPPROVE OF HIS JOB PERFORMANCE THAN THOSE WHO APPROVE.
THE SENIOR CORRESPONDENT ALSO REPORTED THAT INFLATION HAS RISEN IN THREE OF THE LAST FOUR MONTHS”, (DESPITE TRUMP’S CLAIMS TO THE CONTRARY).
…IN A MORE HUMOROUS VEIN
JIMMY KIMMEL CONTINUES HIS CRITICISM OF THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION. HE STATED IN A RECENT SHOW THAT “TRUMP IS REPORTED TO BE SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING INVOKING THE INSURRECTION ACT, WHICH IS A LAW FROM 1807 THAT WOULD ALLOW HIM TO USE THE MILITARY TO ENFORCE HIS RULES. THIS GUY
CAN’T KEEP HIS INSURRECTION IN HIS PANTS ANYMORE.” HE ISSUED A CALL FOR ACTION, ASKING FOR FOLKS FROM PORTLAND, CHICAGO, MEMPHIS, D.C. AND ANY OTHER CITIES WHERE TRUMP WAS SENDING THE NATIONAL GUARD TO SEND HIM A VIDEO OF WHAT’S GOING ON IN TOWN WITH THE HASHTAG #SHOW ME YOUR HELLHOLE”. HE ADDED, “WE WANT TO SEE ALL THE ‘HORRORS’ THE ADMINISTRATION IS DEFENDING YOU FROM." GOING BY WHAT I SAW ON KIMMEL’S SHOW LAST NIGHT, THESE VIDEOS ARE VERY FUNNY! I MEAN, PORTLAND DOESN’T EXACTLY SEEM TO BE A PLACE DEALING WITH RIOTING BY HEINOUS CRIMINALS.

October 13, 2025
Dear Fellow Indivisibles,
MONTHLY MEETING
Our next meeting is Wednesday, October 15th at the Mount Laurel Library at 7 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM for coffee and snacks.
This is a different day and location than we are used to.
Please do not come if you are ill at all, including cold symptoms (unless you have a negative Covid test and are willing to wear a mask).
A lot of Covid is now presenting as just cold symptoms. The past few weeks have seen a major uprising among the pillars of power opposing the executive branch of this administration:
The Pillar of Power of Celebrities and their Public
In response to late night comedian Jimmy Kimmel’s jokes about his administration, when Trump got Kimmel’s show suspended by pressuring ABC’s parent company, Disney, to do so, the public reacted with outrage. So many people cancelled their Disney subscriptions that the company’s website crashed. Then their stock plummeted like a rock! As a result, ABC had to reinstate Kimmel’s show a few days later. Kimmel returned to the air, defiant. His show drew a record 6 million viewers. He joked that although Trump had insulted his ratings as low, now he had far better ratings that Trump!
As with the public protest against Elon Musk’s odd role in the Trump administration when thousands picketed Tesla dealers, causing the stock to crater and Musk to exit his public role in the White House, public pressure against corporate Republican supporters forced Republicans to uphold Democratic principles.
Since then, TV comedians have continued to mock Trump for his autocratic actions, with John Stewart calling Trump’s effort to send troops to Portland Oregon, the “battle of mellow artisans” and dubbing the push, “Waregon”. SNL also mocked Trump last Saturday night for not winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Defiant American comedians appear to remain undeterred.
The Judicial Pillars of Power
In the past week, a federal judge, U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut, (a Trump appointee), halted Trump’s effort to federalize the National Guard in Portland, Oregon, stating that Trump’s “determination was simply untethered to the facts”, and that he therefore lacked authority to federalize the Oregon Guard.Another federal judge, Judge April Perry, has halted the deployment of troops from the Texas National Guard to Chicago. Judge Perry decided that Trump and DHS’ claims about conditions in Chicago were not credible and that protests have not impeded the enforcement of federal law .
Gubernatorial Resistance to Militarizing the States and Cracks in Republican Support for Trump
Recently, Governors such as Gavin Newsom of California and J.B. Pritzker of Illinois have also strongly stood up to Trump when he tried to deploy troops in their major cities. Governor Newsom has been satirizing Trump by using his own language to lambaste him on a variety of social media, through frequent postings.
Governor Pritzker challenged Trump and stated that he refused to let the feds enter Chicago. He made several major speeches against the administration because of its autocratic policies. Responding to Trump’s threats to jail him for resisting militarization of his state, Pritzker replied, “Come and get me!”
Interestingly, even Oklahoma Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt recently opposed Trump’s decision to send National Guard troops across state borders without the permission of the state they sought to enter. In saying so, Stitt offered a rare Republican pushback to the Trump administration’s moves to send National Guard troops to American states.
Notably, another Republican, congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, formerly a vociferous Trump fan, also opposed these moves by the Trump government. During an appearance on comedian Tim Dillon’s podcast, “The Tim Dillon Show,” Greene was unapologetic in critiquing Trump’s ICE raids, some of which notably left “nearly naked” children zip-tied and separated from their parents earlier this month in Chicago.
The Democratic Party Stands Up to Trump
Now united by the administration’s militant moves against Democratic states, the Democrats in congress stood up to the Republicans. In the past two weeks they refused to pass a budget that would double or triple the health insurance premiums of 24 million Americans. Now united by the administration’s militant moves against Democratic states, the Democrats in congress stood up to the Republicans.
In the past two weeks they refused to pass a budget that would double or triple the health insurance premiums of 24 million Americans. As a result, the government has shut down. The public agrees with the Democrats’ position by a substantial margin, and the Republicans continue to lose ground in the polls, with recent polls showing Trump’s approval rating at only 37%.
Again, even Marjorie Taylor Greene was outraged, stating, “I’m absolutely disgusted that health insurance premiums will DOUBLE if the tax credits expire this year.”
She continued, “Not a single Republican in leadership talked to us about this or has given us a plan to help Americans deal with their health insurance premiums DOUBLING.”
The Epstein Files
The public continues to be extremely disturbed by Trump’s refusal to release the Epstein files, even after his Attorney General, Pam Bondi, promised to do so, saying a list of Epstein’s clients were on her desk. When in the following week, Bondi said the list did not even exist, Republicans exploded. Promised for months by Trump and his campaign that they would release the files, (because they said it would incriminate many Democrats), once the administration reneged on its promises, they were enraged. Notably, Marjorie Taylor Greene, formerly one of the loudest Trump supporters, criticized him and the Justice Department for not releasing the files.
CALL TO ACTION
On Friday October 10th nearly all staff in the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services at the US Department of Education were FIRED! This raises concerns about the future of federal oversight for special education programs which ensures services for millions of students with disabilities.Staff were also laid off from the Office of Civil Rights which investigates complaints of discrimination against students with disabilities.
Please call your Congressman and Senators to fight for and protect our students with disabilities!

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Cooper River Indivisible has invited us to table at their No Kings Rally on Oct 18 from 12pm-4pm. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to get new members.
I am going to send out a Sign up sheet as soon as I have the exact details. For the 12pm-2pm shift, I will need 2-3 people capable of carrying a table and two chairs. Apparently it starts at the Westmont PATCO stop at 100 Stoy Ave so this may not be as difficult as you think.
At their last rally, there were 5000 people. This one will probably be bigger.
Save-the-Date. I am counting on you to help me!!!

Hold the Date - Voter Registration at Rowan Glassboro:
Dave Lipshutz is planning another organized voter registration effort at the Rowan Glassboro campus on October 14, as the last one was VERY successful. This will be the last day potential voters can register prior to this November's election. We expect to have 2 shifts, 10:00 - 12:00 and 12:00 - 2:00, with 4-5 people in each. Signups for this will be available next week.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
From Frances MacCarrigan (frances.maccarrigan at gmail dot com), Energizing Young Voters of the League of Women Voters NJ
Moorestown High School
350 Bridgeboro Rd.
Moorestown, NJ 08057
Please let me know ASAP. They are reserving parking spots for all of us and need the count.
Email me at njyoungvoters at gmail dot com or see email for text #.
Must have a driver's license to enter the building!
We are expecting 8 classes throughout the day totalling 226 students.
Some details:
Let’s arrive at 7:15. There will be parking spaces reserved for us. You will need your photo ID -license for security at the main entrance.
The first session starts at 7:44 am. There will be 8 sessions totalling 226 students. We need to be cognizant that some students will not be able to register because they are not citizens. Some students do not use the expression "parents" because they might not live with their parents. We should always be very sensitive to their situations.
Final session will end at 1:55 pm.
Each session will involve:
Very short presentation to the students.
About eight students will be placed into a line so that they can sign onto the polling sheet (spreadsheet provided) and actually walk into the voting booth and place their selections on the real voting machine. The machine's software has a "favorites ballot". The Elections office team oversees the students on the machine. They are managing the machines.
Once the student has successfully printed their ballot they will place it into the scanner with the assistance of the Elections team member.
Please keep the students moving. Teachers will be helping also.
The student will then go to a final table where they will scan the Student Survey QR code and be able to answer the questions about their impression of this experience. Each student can get a "I voted sticker" They will then return to the seats to make sure that they have completed their Voter Reg Application. Please check it to ensure that all required sections are completed. If all is good, please take it and place it into the pile or envelope. The election office members will take the completed applications to the office.
While some students are in the voting line, we are walking around making sure that the other students are completing their Voter Registration Application. They are doing paper registrations. They need to be reminded to please fill in all of the information and double check it.
PLEASE check each completed application to make sure that it has all of the required info. Refer to the attached "Navigating" sheet that has yellow highlighted help. Each student will have access to these highlighted sheets. Keep walking around and ask if they have any questions.
If a student is uncertain if they are registered to vote then we will encourage them to check online using the QR code on the Quick links sheet (attached). Students possibly registered to vote when they received their driver's license however, most have no idea.
Announcements will go out from the office "REMINDING" the students to bring their license or the last four digits of their soc. security number. Some will forget. If they forgot their license or ID, please collect that incomplete application and place it into the (incomplete) envelope. They will be provided the opportunity to complete it as soon as they come back with all required information. Teachers will handle this responsibility.
Where you can help:
Sit at the polling "sign in" table.
Sit at the final table to get the students to scan the QR code of the Survey and give them a sticker.
Walk around to make sure they are working on the application and ask if they have any questions.
Check each completed application!

A Hainesport Councilperson will be knocking doors 11-1 on Sunday and would like to be accompanied by someone experienced with voter registration, as she believes there are a lot of unregistered people there. Contact Dave Lipshutz if you're willing and able to assist.
Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Take note: The next monthly meeting is a different DAY and LOCATION.
Wednesday Oct 15 in the Mount Laurel Library
Wear your T shirts!
1. Call your representatives about the congressional funding fight:
Call your representatives to thank them for opposing a federal budget deal that does not extend the ACA premium tax credit and stops Trump's illegal budget cuts and impoundments. Encourage them to stand firm during this shutdown and refuse to give yet another blank check to an authoritarian. Tell them you stand with them.

Senator Andy Kim

2. Knock doors and/or make calls for Mikie Sherrill:
The race is close and the stakes are high. Do whatever you can to help protect New Jersey from the MAGA regime. Knock doors, make calls, tell your friends and neighbors how important this race is and how much their lives will change for the worse if Mikie doesn't get elected.

4. Canvass with a local council candidate:
A Hainesport Councilperson will be knocking doors in there 11-1 on Sunday and would like to be accompanied by someone experienced with voter registration, as she believes there are a lot of unregistered people there. Contact Dave Lipshutz if you're willing and able to assist.
Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
1. Call your representatives about the congressional funding fight:
Let them know that we can't have a repeat of the last government funding fight where Leader Schumer and some Senate Democrats rolled over and voted through a partisan Republican spending bill and that you are counting on them to hold strong and push Leader Schumer to fight for a spending bill that protects healthcare and puts meaningful checks on Trump.

3. Register voters while there's still time:
There’s a great opportunity for college voter registration at Rowan Glassboro. We were there yesterday for 4 hours and registered 159 students! They were everywhere. The kids are really anxious to register and it’s a busy campus. Everyone had a blast and can’t wait to do it again. If you're interested contact Rich Cleaver richcl205@gmail.com or 609-304-4497.
