Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Our next meeting is Monday Aug 18 at the Community Center of Mount Laurel at 7pm, the usual place. Yesterday I said the Community Health Center- that was from my previous life as a doctor. Sorry about that. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Come early to make sure you get a seat.
Only a few days left to order your T-shirt and other paraphernalia. The web store closes Sunday, August 3 and it could be a year before we do this again.
Don't be disappointed! I asked people to wear their T-shirts to the July meeting, and clearly there were people there who were envious. We really did look "fine." That's why I requested another webstore.
Call to Action
This seems particularly on point due to our Cherry Hill Visible Brigade this afternoon
DEMAND OUR OFFICIALS DON'T LET TRUMP BURY THE EPSTEIN FILES
CALL OUR SENATORS AND HOUSE MEMBERS
Most House members are home for August recess after Republicans prematurely fled DC to avoid voting on the Epstein files. But we’re keeping the pressure on and demanding a vote as soon as they return. And even for our Democratic representatives, call them to make sure they will push hard for the files to be released. No compromise.
Read the history and coverup of these most heinous crimes and why we are pushing this in Indivisible's explainer about it all, including the coverups going back decades and involving Trump's allies. For more background, check out the excellent reporting by the Miami Herald for the background to this horribly sordid story and the horrible coverup from years ago. Oh, and don't forget that Trumps's Secretary of Labor in his first term, Alex Acosta, was involved in the coverup! It's time for transparency and to end the
Call and demand our Democratic representatives keep the pressure on and that Republicans and our senators, including Senator Fetterman, publicly support:
Releasing all Epstein-related documents and flight logs
Investigating Pam Bondi’s DOJ review and contradictions
Accountability for all implicated public officials

Senator Cory Booker 202-224-3224

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,

There is a protest in Trenton organized by 50501 on August 2.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Andy’s sounding the alarm! We need to work to win the upcoming election for the governorship and the assembly! Below are some ways to engage.
• Pete’s leading a door knocking event tomorrow (Saturday, July 26) meet him 10 AM at the Gazebo (near the pond) at Laurel Acres Park, 1045 S Church St, in Mount Laurel, 08054.
You could also write the letter below from Cooper River Indivisible to Senators Kim and Booker and Congressman Conaway.
Dear
As your constituent, I request for you to witness first-hand and to raise awareness about the conditions that family and friends of detainees at Delaney Hall Detention Center in Newark are subjected to (these detainees were often picked up at immigration hearings or scheduled check-ins and have no criminal background).
Members of Cooper River Indivisible Immigration Committee have observed and documented the following conditions for visiting family and friends:
Visitors are expected to arrive 40 minutes before appointments, then line up where there is no shade, then wait again in the sun once admitted through the gate. Visitors wait for long periods, even hours, in the heat and sun.
Without good reason, visitors are at times turned away, sometimes after waiting long periods and traveling long distances. The ICE facility arbitrarily changes rules from day to day without notice and visitors cannot find out rules in advance. Because of the vague visitation guidelines, families have been arriving at 6:30 am for a 10:00 am appointment, and some have waited from morning till night.
Women were turned away for wearing sandals, tights, tank tops, or skirts that ‘don’t extend to the knee while seated’ (these are just a few of the strict and unnecessary dress code rules).
There’s no public parking available, and Newark Police, observed to be rude and aggressive, issue parking tickets and threaten to tow visitors' vehicles (with tow trucks present on scene), causing panic and fear amongst visitors.
Detainees are often moved away without notice and family and friends struggle to locate them.
The detailed documented observations by Cooper River Indivisible members can be found at: https://www.cooperriverindivisible.org/immigration-committee/

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Many of you at the last meeting expressed interest in ordering a T-shirt, sweatshirt, or hat that says SJNOW Indivisible. They also have long sleeved T shirts. You cannot change the color. Whatever the color is in the webstore- that's what you get.
The webstore closes Sunday Aug 3
I think the T-shirts are great, good quality and they fit well. The lettering is done really well. You have the option of having the words "Ask Me" on the back. The idea is to have people ask you about our group. You then give them a business card (we provide them) so we can increase our membership. If you do not feel comfortable doing that, you do not have to put the words on the back.
The other thing you have to decide, is if you want to pay a pretty substantial shipping fee to have it mailed to your home or pick it up from my house. I pick them all up from a store in Medford. I still have a few T-shirts from the last order that people have not remembered to pick up. Please don't plan to pick up your T-shirt from my house unless you're actually going to do it.

Call to Action
The Department of Homeland Security is planning to house immigrants at Joint Base McGuire—“Fort Dix”. Trump's administration is increasingly turning to the armed forces to bolster its AGGRESSIVE immigration crackdown.
Our Senators and Congressmen are opposed to this as Booker stated, “This is an inappropriate use of our national defense system and military resources.” Our Democratic lawmakers collectively stated that this plan is “escalating a radical immigration policy that has resulted in the INHUMANE treatment of undocumented immigrants and unlawful deportation of US citizens, including children across the country.”
Let’s call our representatives and let them know they have our full support in trying to stop this regime's use of Fort Dix as a detention center and to STOP ice raids! Let us also thank them for standing up to this atrocity!!

Attend One Million Rising Virtual Sessions on 7/30, 8/13
Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Despite procedural objections and a walk out, the Senate Judiciary Committee has voted to advance Emil Bove’s nomination to the Senate floor vote.
Here is why he is resoundingly unfit to serve this LIFETIME position on our federal court:
1) He signaled support of Trump running for a third term.
2) He ordered the firings of Jan 6th prosecutors.
3) Threatened to prosecute local & state officials who push back against Trump’s mass deportation agenda.
4) Dropped corruption charges against NYC mayor Eric Adam’s.
5) Directed officials to ignore any court orders that interfered with the deportation agenda.
In other words… he is unethical and does not follow the law!!
Please call your senators to oppose the nomination of Emil Bove. He is unquestionably unfit to serve on the federal bench!!!

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Call to Action:
One last reminder about the Friday Ark Road Resistance rally today (details at the bottom of this email): We are expecting a special guest this week - the South Jersey coordinator for the campaign of our next governor, Mikie Sherrill. This could result in additional engagement with the campaign, and increased visibility for our efforts. Let's show them what South Jersey resistance looks like with a great turnout!
Unless you've been off the planet the last few weeks you know that our current chief executive has been aggressively fighting the release of the Epstein files. Does this mean there is damaging information that hasn't been released, even though the current AG promised this? Who knows, but we've been promised and deserve transparency on this. Indivisible is asking us to contact our legislators and urge them to push for release of the files. Links with more information and scripts are here:
Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
This Friday July 18, staff from Mikie Sherrill’s campaign are coming to the Friday Ark Road rally to scope out whether it’s a good place for the candidate to come. We need a big turnout.
Burlington County Farm Fair
We have been invited by the Burlington County Democratic Committee to do Voter Registration with them. We won’t need our own tent. They have a large tent with all of the amenities. They have agreed to give us our own space and display our signs. They told me they’ve been doing voter registration for years. Last year 100,000 people came to the Fair (heavily weighted to evenings especially Friday and Saturday). I need a really reliable volunteer to go this Sunday (July 20) or Monday (July 21) to bring our signs etc. This is before the fair starts. I need the volunteer to get these signs from me BEFORE Thursday morning, July 17, because I am leaving on vacation. You will call Fred Samson 609-462-5532 on Sunday or Monday to make sure he is going to be there. This volunteer must also get directions from me BEFORE Thursday morning.
The sign up sheet is below:
https://tinyurl.com/SJNOWFarmFair.
I need an additional two people for Saturday 1-3pm. Please email me directly at eileenghill@gmail.com
If you are not signing up, ignore the directions below.
Directions for people going to do voter registration.
Route 38 East to 206N.
At the second light there is a WaWa (Route 537). At the next light after the WaWa make a left. Make a right into Fairground Parking. It is $15. If you are going only for Voter Registration, I will reimburse you.
Cross the road and go into the Fairgrounds. At the flagpole, make a right. Walk down the main thoroughfare. You will come to a large opening. On the other side of the opening is the booth you are looking for. The Burlington County Democratic Committee. There are blue rope lights and large blow up red, white and blue donkeys. I imagine they would be hard to miss. Across is the entrance to the rides.
Check the weather. They close it down in thunderstorms. If you aren’t sure, call Fred Samson 609-462-5532.
Any questions? Ask them ASAP

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
The political landscape is changing, and we have to continue to change with it.
In the past, we’ve been able to lean directly on the power of the ballot box and the pressure we, as constituents, can bring to bear on our elected representatives. Whether it was saving the Affordable Care Act or kicking Trump out of office in 2020, we’ve proven that organizing on a local level to drive progress works -- and that is still true.
But the pressing threat of authoritarianism means that we have to include new strategies to protect the future of our democracy and our people.
The masks are off. Trump, MAGA Republicans, and their billionaire donors have given up on even pretending to govern for the people and are solely looking to line their own pockets and consolidate power.
We’re in a period of what the experts call “authoritarian breakthrough” -- a short period where a would-be authoritarian (i.e. Trump) sprints to rapidly concentrate and consolidate their power while eroding the norms and institutions that could serve as checks on that power. We’re witnessing this in real time through lawless executive orders, willful disregard for the courts, and vicious attacks on higher education, media, and state governments -- and that’s only the tip of the iceberg.
They are working to consolidate their power and bully everyone else -- businesses, media institutions, universities, law firms, and civil society -- into submission.
They want us to believe that power in America comes from the top down. That Trump can simply declare himself a dictator, and everyone has to fall in line. That he’ll inevitably win.
But that’s a lie. Power isn’t top-down -- it’s bottom-up. Power flows up from the people; through the organizations, institutions, and communities that support the regime; and then to the regime itself. Think of it like a house -- the roof is the regime, the pillars holding up that roof are the organizations, and the foundation is the people.
To prevent a slide into authoritarianism, we have to take on the pillars that hold up the roof.
We’ll cover in depth what this looks like in the training, but here’s a taste of what the end results could look like:
A university refusing to adjust its curriculum at the whims of the president
A faith institution declaring themselves a Sanctuary Church that will protect and shelter immigrants
A business refusing to cooperate with ICE
Some of us will work on national campaigns. Some of us will work on local campaigns. Some will do both. But we all have a role, and we need millions of people to do their part.
Join our One Million Rising trainings, starting July 16, to learn our new strategy to do just that. Here’s how they will break down:
Session 1: The Moment and Your Mission
Wednesday, July 16 at 8pm ET/5pm PT
Get oriented to making meaning of this moment and the role you can play in coordinated strategic non-compliance.
Session 2: How to Make it Happen
Wednesday, July 30 at 8pm ET/5pm PT
Learn not just our strategy, but how you can get others on board. In this session we'll prepare you to lead a conversation at a community gathering with folks in your life. That's how we get to one million people ready to take action.
Session 3: What Now?
Wednesday, August 13 at 8pm ET/5pm PT
You'll be onboarded to basic campaign design and learn how to implement it locally. We’ll also get you plugged into our next national campaign.
***All sessions will be recorded***
History and experts agree on one thing: We CAN stop an authoritarian breakthrough. No matter how much wanna-be dictators try to convince us otherwise, we have the power. But it is going to take all of us working together to get it done. Join One Million Rising to learn how we’re going to work together to defend democracy and keep the power where it belongs -- with the people.
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Here are two opportunities in Philadelphia on July 17
Happy Friday, Activists!
We have a quick one today to tell you about two opportunities for you on July 17th, the day of the nationwide John Lewis Good Trouble Lives On actions. Many of you already know about that. And some were wondering what our group is doing that day. Well, the details have finally been set and they are below!
The purpose of this day of action is to honor the legacy of John Lewis and is a national day of nonviolent action to respond to the attacks posed on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration and to remind them, through public protests and community events, that in America, the power lies with the people.
You have two options for next Thursday - a protest rally and a community service opportunity:
1. Come to City Hall for a protest rally from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. We'll be on the South apron of City Hall with speakers and signs.
2. Prepare food boxes at Share food program from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Details are below.
Details for Event at Share Food Program
Share is Philadelphia's largest food distribution program. It is is now "the leading hunger relief organization in our region, and one of the largest independent food banks in the nation."
We will be limited to 20 volunteers for this event so please sign up only if you really plan to come. We will also have a waiting list, so this is on a first come first served basis.
Where: 3111 W. Allegheny Ave, Philadelphia.
When: Thursday, July 17th, 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Share provides food to those in need, from seniors to the children in the National School Lunch Program and is a much-needed resource in the Philadelphia area.
The options for the tasks we will do may include:
● Senior Food Box Program: assembly line packing boxes of nutritious food for local
seniors that fall below 130% of the poverty line. These boxes are distributed to
over 7,300 seniors each month across the region.
● Warehouse Prep: Complete tasks to prepare the assembly line for upcoming food
box packing shifts.
● Housekeeping: any general cleaning, organizing, or assisting task that supports
maintaining the warehouse.
Expectations:
● The minimum age for warehouse volunteers is 13 years old. All volunteers under 17
years old must have a chaperone.
● Boxes will range from 2 to 35 pounds during the packing process.
● Masks are optional on-site but can be provided upon request.
● We recommend bringing a refillable water bottle with you.
There will be parking available in a lot and on the street but carpooling may be your best option. The location is 3111 W. Allegheny Ave.
Once you sign up we will have some more information for you to meet the requirements for working around food. Sign up here

Call to Action: Oppose Trump Attorney Emil Bove for Federal Court Judge
Call your senators to urge them to oppose the nomination of Emil Bove to serve as a federal court judge. His unlawful weaponization of the Department of Justice and assistance in Trump administration's repeated defiance of court orders makes him unquestionably unfit to serve on the bench.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
The next meeting is Monday, July 14 at 7pm at the Mount Laurel Community Center. Doors open at 6:30 PM for coffee and cake. Wear your SJNOWIndivisible T shirt.
Call to Action:
No Secret Police in America
Across the country masked, unidentifiable officers are detaining people in coordination with ICE—-targeting immigrants, students and protesters all without due process. These authoritarian, intimidating tactics have no place in our communities. Governors have the power to respond.
Call Governor Phil Murphy and urge him to oppose and refuse to assist with any federal ICE raids and detentions.
Governor Phil Murphy 609-292-6000
National Indivisible Suggested Activities: Demand Action from NJ State and Local Dems to Stop Masked ICE Abductions; AND Attend One Million RisingVirtual Sessions
Contact state and local Dems to demand action against masked ICE abductions. If you live in a blue state or city, your Democratic governor, mayor, and lawmakers have the power to stop secret police tactics like abductions by masked ICE agents. Our Blue State Defiance toolkit helps identify who to contact and what to call for.
Across the country, authoritarian forces are growing bolder and more dangerous. Trump and his allies are not hiding their agenda: mass deportations, rollbacks of civil rights, weaponized courts, and full-scale attacks on our democracy.
We can stop this, but it’ll take all of us -- not just on single days of mass action, but by organizing every day, in every community. That’s why Indivisible is launching One Million Rising, a nationwide effort to train one million people to lead effective non-cooperation at every level.
We recommend that you sign up for all three One Million Rising sessions, even if you cannot attend them live. Each training will be recorded to be viewed on demand, and the best way to ensure you receive the recordings is registering on Mobilize.
Cooper River Indivisible John Lewis Event, July 17, 6-9 PM in Camden
Join Cooper River Indivisible and other grassroots organizations for a peaceful, family-friendly gathering on the Camden waterfront at historic Cooper’s Poynt Park on 7/17 from 6-9pm.
Activities will include mutual aid and community resources, arts and crafts, music, and fun activities. The evening will culminate with a community flashlight vigil and locking arms along the waterfront promenade in honor of John Lewis and Making Good Trouble Live On! Please bring a flashlight to participate in making a beautiful sight

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Today is a sad day in American History. We can acknowledge how bad it is without wallowing. We focus on what we do next. I was on the call this afternoon with Ezra and Leah, the Founders of National Indivisible. They said there are dozens of new Indivisible groups forming every week. They're also international groups. They remind us the elections are in 16 months and this is a deeply unpopular bill which will have major political consequences.
I am heartened by the brilliance of this husband and wife team, who know exactly what's going on and also know exactly what needs to be done. We need 3.5% of the population actively involved in organized resistance. Our job now is to grow the ranks. It is also our job to have a blowout race November 4 for the New Jersey Governor. Along with the Virginia Governor’s race, Indivisible says this will definitely help.
Indivisible is starting a new training program called One Million Rising.
This summer, in response to these pressing threats, we are proud to launch One Million Rising – a groundbreaking national initiative designed to train and mobilize a vast network of individuals
Whenever I start to waiver in my optimism, I remember that there is an organized, brilliant, mobilized resistance that has been in place for eight years. I am impressed by the fact that they have steeped themselves in knowledge of autocracies. They have a clear strategy and vision. It’s not going to be easy but it is definitely doable. It involves mobilizing millions of Americans to see and understand what's going on and to join the resistance. Let’s remember that we have already done this. "No Kings" was the largest demonstration in American History. Now we need to grow the movement and move forward. We need to show up for National Actions.
On July 17 there will be a large national action for the 5 year anniversary of John Lewis’s death.
Join us with [Cooper River Indivisible](https://www.facebook.com/cooperriverindivisible?__cft__[0]=AZUw9GUeVDSPJg2rg7LxSCbtkapWz2Ydxqihe1KbPbObCAB24GfWJTuNXZuPPWG3bXxy0bu7SPoy_gobV-yuuLDgXwYLVWpTUy62RCrEkvxd2H89rnt8V17URlIOjyyKWx4&__tn__=-]K-R) for a "Good Trouble" event on the 5th anniversary of the passing of John Lewis. I saw a great post on our Facebook page from Laura Beverage. The author isn’t given.
“If you ever feel heavy because you care deeply about injustice, suffering, and ecological destruction, remember that $1 trillion propaganda machine was built to make you numb and it didn't work on you.”
We are part of SJNOW-Alice- Paul-Chapter and we owe our very existence to them. I hope there are people who volunteer for this.
Hope you are well! My name is Olivia; I am the public programs manager at the Alice Paul Center. I am reaching out to share an upcoming volunteer opportunity that may be of interest to your members.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
The last day of the Art Sale is Saturday July 5 from 1-5pm. Not Friday.
The Senate passed the One Big Beautiful Bill. Now it goes to the House It is not a done deal. Fight back. This is how we saved Obamacare in 2017.
Call folks whose GOP representatives are flippable. If you can spare 1-2 hours for the fight, join a phonebank to call people in vulnerable Republican districts, sound the alarm about this bill, and patch them through to let their GOP representative have it. Anyone can join a phonebank; you just need a phone and a computer.
Fight back with friends. We’re stronger together, so encourage your friends and family to take action to stop the cuts to Medicaid and SNAP. Sign up and get access to Empower, an app that has everything you need to text your circle about the Republican tax scam: ready-to-use scripts and messages with links they can use to call their own Members of Congress.
Help spread the word about what’s in this bill using our social toolkit. When people know what’s in the bill, they overwhelmingly oppose it -- but a lot of people still aren’t aware of the details. You can help change that.
Forward this email. Think your friends in swing districts already know? Don’t risk it. Hit forward.
